I’m waiting for my H2C to be shipped and was wondering about dual color printing speed.
If I print say black and white only from 2 spools… Black on the left nozzle through HT and White on the right nozzle through AMS 2 Pro, would the White filament be cut and fully retracted back to the AMS whenever it started printing Black and vise versa? Basically, is there a time difference between printing just 2 colors over printing 7 or does every filament swap take up the same amount of time regardless of the total amount of multi-colors

With just a single filament/color on each head (2 total) it doesn’t need to actually swap any filament for color changes, just switch print heads. So it doesn’t cut or retract. It only needs to do that if using more than one color/type per print head, since a new filament needs to be physically fed into the single tube leading to the extruder.

This is what I was hoping for since most of my prints are 1 or 2 colors. So, based on your reply, I take it that there is little difference in total dual color print time between this and a true tool changer…
Yes in that way it will act like a h2d and just switch i mostly run the left and right from 2 ams-ht’s in that case and leave the 2 ams2’s alone. It will in fact be a little faster than a h2d since the induction nozzle will heat up faster … depends a little on the pre-heating but that is what it looks like to me. Vortek is like a computer ‘cache’ in only gets slower if you move up so : 1 nozzle fastest, 2 nozzles very fast, 7 nozzles (vortek) slower but still 2x faster than old way… 24 colors the old ‘ams’ way. Also even in 24 color more it will not always cut (and poop and poop less) since it only needs todo that if more then 2 colors per layer are used it will do it best as possible. This also makes it a little hard to really nail down the speed it depends on model. But one and two colors its full speed really. Also there are models if you fill the build plate where say even with 4 colors the h2c beats a tool changer like the U1 in real tests it simply wins back time during printing it looses in changes.
