Hi,
In our latest update, we have enhanced the incentives of our Boost System for users who distribute Boost Tokens to their preferred models. This update also includes doubling our distribution of Boost Tokens and adjusting the exchange rate for Boost-to-Point conversion. We hope these changes reflect our commitment to making the Boost System more effective and rewarding for both designers and users. Further details are provided below.
Doubled Boost Token Distribution: Users will now receive twice the amount of Boost Tokens for their contributions.
Point Incentives for Boost Models: Users will get points rewards after boosting a model. Those who have already boosted models will receive retroactive incentives. (To clarify, users will receive a 5-point reward the first time they handout a Boost Token, followed by a 2-point reward for each subsequent handout of a Boost Token.)
Adjusted Boost-to-Point Exchange Rate: The exchange rate has been adjusted to 1:12. Designers who have already exchanged Boost Tokens will receive retroactive compensation for the difference.
If you have any further questions or suggestions, please tell us in the comments.
Thanks.
@MakerWorld Firstly I appreciate the update and highly recommend keeping up on them as frequent as possible. This community (as you should see) can be quick to jump to conclusions and will fill with skepticism in no time.
Although I feel this system needs a lot more change, the fact I’m seeing change happen is a good sign. I only question if the changes are completely reflecting the communities feedback directly though.
One of my BIGGEST bits of feedback is PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!
Update and change every reward option! It’s proven that the ($40 Gift Card) has became the imbalance of the system. It’s the only thing users have eyes on and it’s understandable, it’s money.
I really really REALLY think creating the space to influence more so tangible rewards that are consumable (beside money) will vastly change the demographic and bot spam MakerWorld is seeing.
Please consider the following rewards in the near future listed below
PLA Basic 1kg Spool = 192 points (estimated)
PETG Transparent 1kg Spool = 275 points (est)
PAHT-CF 0.5kg Spool = 325 Points (Discount this option, get users to try it and it’ll prove itself to be worthy which results in consumers to buy it)
Maker Supply Hardware = 25-500 Points ( Make the option to use points to purchase the hardware from a [Maker Supply] model, the shipping is what breaks a deal to some users but this way promotes all the hardware and access to the items!
Free Shipping on any item voucher! = 100 Points (discounted, but could be a drop in the bucket for users only needing a quick replacement item)
Model Promotion 3-5 Day = 300 Points ( Reward the incentives!, this would continue the cycle of points back into MakerWorld by generating more views to certain users gaining some traffic/downloads BUT limit the use of this redemption to ONLY ONCE A MONTH!)
I want MakerWorld to succeed, I’ve had strong views on the platform and have argued and disagreed with many here but I’m tired of it… I just want 1 Platform to be the end all be all place to go…
MakerWorld = Makers Home
I hope you can take some of what I suggested and truly consider it. Please, Happy Printing Makers.
Does printing weekly 2 models over 1h print time is the only factor took in count to receive a boost token when you are a Bambu Lab printer owner?
And the other two type of interactions, commenting and creating are only applicable to non Bambu Lab printer owners?
I’m a Bambu Lab printer owner and I’m clearly not fulfilling the first condition (2x 1h MW prints). I like to print models under 1h print time since I spend the most of my time prototyping models to publish them later on on MW.
But it looks like Creating doesn’t count at all to be qualified for receiving some boost tokens. Is that correct for Bambu Lab printer owner?
Thanks for you advice. We understand that there are increasing needs for a much more diverse reward option pool. We plan to incorporate more reward options in the future and will let our users know beforehand, thanks again for your kind suggestions.
Hi, as of right now, the first condition is a necessary condition for Bambu Lab printer owners to get Boost Tokens. Interactions such as commenting or creating are criteria we look at mainly for non Bambu Lab printer owners. We understand this is not the perfect approach and are considering optimizing our logic for giving out Boost Token to MakerWorld users in the near future. Thanks
I want to boost someone but I had only 2 boost points on begining and from that (17.04.2024) I have no boost poins which I can give someone. How these boost poins are assigned?
Fingers crossed? It’s true. An idea may look good on paper, but how it works in reality depends on how users react to it. I think it will take many adjustments and a long time for MW to make the new system work reasonably well, and after that, it probably will still require on-going adjustments long term.
Why not have an internally-developped formula or algorithm from MW to distribute the boost tokens, in addition to users distributing them? It will ensure that enough boost tokens are distributed out to designers regardless. This is particularly true for boost tokens that are expired.
I like this ideas. i had very strong views and opinions too but I entered this morning to print something and I received my boost, which I gave away to a nice model and received 2 extra points. They made some nice adjustments it seems. Are the downloads from not logged still not visible?
