I’ve owned an Elegoo FDM. Great when it works, not so much when it doesn’t. PITA to keep level.
This may be good, but it’ll be a cold day before I take some YT videos word for it.
Price is there, but I can’t help but remember how Elegoo got great pricing in the past. They cut corners, well everyone does, but eh. Keep it.
For the price, I’m taking the chance. I’m hoping for an Anycubic outcome here. I wasn’t impressed with the K3, but took a chance on the S1, and it’s night and day better than the K3(which I bestowed upon n my eldest).
If the elegoo CC turns out to be a K3, I guess my eldest is getting his first core XY🤣
I damn near bought the plus 4 due to its pending MMS. I see this CC boasts an MMS system too, Q3 2025. I didn’t buy the CC because of the pending MMS, but I’ve got higher hopes of elegoo actually delivering on their MMS than I do qidi. And if they don’t, I’m not stuck with an $800 single color printer.
I can’t fault you. Just not my cup of tea. Think I’m going to hang on the P1 for a bit and decide maybe next year if I want to upgrade.
More and more the AMS is more of a laziness factor than a need. Really just saves me the trouble of loading more often. If I had to I could get by easily with just the external. I bet I could even do with a $300 printer in most ways.
Im not expecting it to be a mind blower at this point in history. Just expecting it to be as good as a p1s for half the price. Really just bought it to play with. New shiny etc. It will be a nice surprise in 3 months.
Actually you can use the full 256³ build volume. Bambu have a dedicated wiki page, which settings you have to change and which features you have to disable, but it is possible to print a cube at this size and they give detailed step by step instructions.
I think I haven’t seen a single printer neither from a chinese nor western company, that states the actual useable build volume. And they all don’t care to loose a single word about it. In that regard, Bambu stands out as a positive example in my opinion.
Why you say “not so much”? Seems like Brian’s complaints would be easy to fix since all of them except the light’s brightness are in firmware & software, not in the hardware. As for light itself - The light in P1S is weak too and there are mods to install leds, so that’s one way to fix the lighting problem I’d say very interesting for $299.99
Exactly “would be easy fix” but i dont buy unfinished products with flawed firmware. And no way it will cost 300$ were i live. Because of import tax it will probably be the same as a P1P.
Then you have to weigh in the ecosystem BL have with Makerworld, spare parts, upgrades etc etc.
So not so much thank you
That’s why I said here: Elegoo Centauri Carbon - #7 by Johnny_Bit that by August one could have enough info for “impulse buy” since by August fixable issues spotted by reviewers and beta-testers should be fixed. Then real-life usage comes and it’s another 6 moths, so actual fully conscious buying decision could be made around Feb 20162026.
Regarding Ecosystem: Makerworld can be easily used by users with other printers. Elegoo already showed it’s good with spare parts and support with their other printers.
Also - “unfinished product with flawed firmware”… You know there hasn’t been a 3d printer that came out fully fleshed out with perfect firmware that didn’t need upgrades ever? That’s why my approach of patiently waiting for around 6 months after the printer is in hands of normal people instead of content creators is the way to go.
You can download and print but never gett the full experience because you HAVE to test print with a Bambu Lab printer when you upload your own creation to earn points.
There is different degrees of hell and Bambu Labs printer wasn’t that flawed when they released them. So there is NO incentive to buy that and swap out a fully functional printer with a flawed product.
Agreed on all your points. People that think something like the elegoo/qidi/creality etc with klipper and mainsail will be a bambu replacement dont fully appreciate the finer points of bambu. Yes it will/might print well enough, but the user experience is subpar. And early reviews are pretty much a write off, both becasue they are not long term and they are frequently paid/free printer etc. Ive already seen a semi-honest review on the elegoo with multiple problems cropping up on a brand new machine. Also no reliable multi material system is an automatic disqualifier for me in 2025.
Fact or opinion? Still the user experience will not be the same as with a BL printer because the files are sliced for a BL printer. For example you can’t start a print from MakerWorld on a Elegoo from mobile phone…as user would do.
