Can we please get a option to enable the physical button on the upper right as a emergency stop button?
I had a situation where it would be much faster to press the button insted of the display one.
I know this was totally my failure. But we are human and not perfect. We make mistake from time to time.
I think it would be a improvement, because the button have no function at this time.
The button which you suggest likely has some function or some planned function (maybe on the laser version?)
On the H2D it does nothing.
On laser versions it has a function.
A power button (or a real E-stop) needs to be wired to accept the duty, or more clearly, it has to be physically wired to be able to handle the current. I imagine it could be a sleep button, but I doubt that has the same interest that a dedicated power button or E-stop. A virtual E-stop may be doable, but it wouldn’t be a real E-stop. It would only send a stop command, not cut power. If everything is working fine, it would serve the purpose you want. But if something is haywire… it may not, unlike a real E-stop.
I’m of the thought that, it should have ALWAYS been the power button. There’s no reason in the world to aspire to have your machines seen as an appliance and you put the power button in a difficult to reach place. Honestly, I don’t think it makes sense for any device to have the power button in a difficult to reach place, but that’s just my two cents.
