With the U.K. store always being out of stock and available filaments usually refills, my purchase choices are limited.
As such I end up needing spools. I have about 50 unique opened spools from BL with mire I need to put on spools. I have four spare ones ready, if my new AMS ever turns up (courier company failed to deliver it) I will have four more.
I have printed around a dozen.
I have (will have) 4 AMS units over two printers and 1 AMS lite on the A1 mini.
This means I often have 20 filaments in use at any one time. Swapping in and out types and colours.
The difficulties in getting new reusable spools has been annoying, spending 5 hours and around 1/3 of a spool creating a printed one is annoying. I usually run them off overnight.
I imagine I will get to a sweet spot of the perfect number of them to not need any more. Just not sure when that will be.
(Not asking for any, I can cope.)
Before getting all the BL filament, I used every other manufacturer and most of those are cardboard. I have towers of those after they ran out. Not so many plastic ones.
I have 70 of those filaments opened and partially used right now.
I am one of those people printing reusable spools. Bambulab filament is quite expensive compared to other brands, so I rarely buy from them. And if I buy from bambulab, I don’t want to pay the 3-4€ extra for a spool.
Almost all of the non-bambu filament I buy, comes as a cardboard spool, so I have to respool them. You would have to buy quite frequently from bambulab to have a problem with too many reusable spools.
Some of us are around 85 BL filaments and 75+ other manufacturers in this situation.
Many more are far deeper into the well of BL filaments.
Those with multiple printers (I have three for my hobby) feel the problem quicker as I have 20 rolls connected across 4xAMS units and 1xAMS lite.
Then if (like me again) you have 50+ spools of BL open you use all the different types and colours within each type all the time, it gets even more complicated.
Add into that the availability of filament with spools when you need to purchase and are in a veritable quagmire of issues.
I am new to 3d printing and ordered all refills with the printer because the website says if you order 4 you get one free empty spool. Apparently they are not honoring that anymore so I only have the 2 that came with the AMS. Do you have links to any good ones I can print? The ones I used are having issues and the filament is unwinding causing issues in the AMS.
Everyone talks about having a plethora of them and I just want a few lol.
