Engineering drawings to STL

Sorry to chip in with something trivial, but I’ new to the game and have just taken delivery of a P1S. I’ve signed up to the forum but cannot for the life of me figure out how to ask for help or even find the correct topic. So if you could just point me in the right direction I’d be most grateful. I have some basic engineering drawings which I want to convert, presumably into .stl files, so that I can print the components. Please help by putting me on the right road.

You need a cad program like fusion. From the engineering drawings recreate the object in cad, then export the object as stl.

If you happen to have autodesk autocad, it has some features to build geometries directly from PDF’s.

Studio can accept several formats besides .stl.

It’s difficult say how to convert your files without knowing what format they are in now. Most CAD programs should be able to export designs as .stl, .step, and generic .3mf. Or you can just search online to look for an online converter (“convert .f3d to .stl”) or conversion program.

What program did you use to make them? What are you using now? Or are they on paper?

If you only have them on paper, as many have already suggested, I would recommend a classic CAD program, as you can transfer the drawings there. One example among many: Autodesk Fusion.

If the drawings are available in digital form and you already have a program, it may even be able to export them as stl or 3mf files. There are often extensions or plugins available.

A little tip: photos always help a lot with things like this, so we know what you already have or what it’s actually about.

Please accept my apologies for my tardy response, recent events rather overtook me.
Your prompt responses were very much appreciated.
I will take a look at Fusion, Meshey has also been suggested.
Right now I have an issue with lack of adhesion to the plate especially with small supporting pads which break away mid print and then clog the nozzle.
I’ve only made a total of less than a dozen Bambu Studio prints so far and the plate has been studiously cleaned with 99.9% isopropyl alcohol after each print.
The plate has never been scraped and has only been slightly flexed to release prints.
Only PLA has been used so far however in some cases support pads fail to stick immediately losing their correct location and causing chaos.
The LCD seems to indicate it’s at the correct temperature.
If you have any ideas they would be much appreciated.

Isopropyl alcohol dissolves fingerprints, but unless you use large amounts to rinse the plate, the oils are redeposited when the alcohol evaporates.

Warm water and grease-cutting dish detergent (like Dawn or Fairy) will encapsulate the oils, which can then be rinsed away in running water. Avoid dish soaps that claim to be gentle on hands.

I like to use a clean dish rag or a small brush to reach into the crevices on a textured plate. Dry the plate with a clean towel that has NOT been treated with fabric softener.
