Not saying it is bambu fault, I never claimed it was. I was pointing out that I used the liquid adhesive with ASA and it welded to the bottom of my print like I have never seen before. Could be the ASA. it was Geetech and I only used it once before on a small part using a texture build plate. It released just fine.
Its a peoblem with 3d printing in general.
even with the “same” base materials, some will not stick at all, some will weld itself to whatever build plate you use.
Has to do with additives, and each manufacturer is different… can be annoying.
as for abs/asa I understand some manufacturers add e.g. tpu to make it stick better (cause layer adhesion/warping can be a problem with that type of material…)
100% this.
On the engineering plate, glue is a sacrificial release layer to prevent the part from sticking too well to the bed.
They should bring back the original engineering plate for the H series. Is this new one just a sticker?
Yup, freezer for 30 seconds. You don’t want the part to cool down to the same temperature as the plate because it’s the temperature Differential that works for you.
So same part with the regular glue stick on the same engineering plate worked like a charm. No lift off the build plate and the part came right off without even flexing the plate.
I use Elmers Purple glue sticks on the textured plate and have printed hundreds of ASA models and all release fine once cool. I do have to use warm water and soap to remove the residual glue from the bottom surface of the plate and the models.
I use the combination of liquid glue and the engineering plate constantly, mainly for PETG, and it works brilliantly. I have also done the same with ABS and ASA without problems, although one can get remnants when the bed goes over about 80°C. Were you using support filaments? Sometimes it’s best to lift the model off the deck and use supports.
If you do get problems like that, heat the bed up to 100° and then you can gently scrape it off and it peels away. (Best to wear gardening gloves)
