Engineering Print plate not recognized! Marker was not detected

Hi,
I tried for the first time my Bambulab Engineering Plate and got this error message.
I tried both face, then finally choose to ignore error.
What is wrong ?


note: this morning there was a firmware update for the H2D, I did it just before this first print with this new build plate,. maybe a firmware bug !?

note2: back to print with the pei texture, and no issue with pei textured plate it’s recognized, I only have the issue with the Engineering Plate !

Might be that the firmware is not supporting it yet. So temporarily you can disable the plate recognition in the settings.

I believe the new beta does.

It still says in the (EU) Store, that it will not be recognised by the H2D until Q1 2026. So maybe there will be another firmware update until end of march.

But I did use it on my H2D during the last 2-3 months. It just not recognised. You can simply disable the checking or just hit ignore every print. It will continue normal afterwards.

Yes, I know that, but if I bought Bambulab accessories and pay more for that I am expecting they will work as they should, not having to use workaround ! Why Bambu need so long for so basic bug !? :thinking:

But you have bought a newer product which clearly states, that it is currently not supported by the software of your printer. And now you are complaining that it is not supported by the software?

Bambulab does support other printers which can use the exact same print plate (H2S) which may already have it added to its firmware. The H2C (has a smaller plate) does support it as well. So you can be sure that the H2D will support it soon. You just bought it a bit early.

Wrong ! The official reseller where I bought it, it was not specified, and he himself didn’t know it. ! It’s not a specification, it’s nothing else than an unfixed basic bug !
It’s not a new product, engineer plate are available since 2023

No offense, but dropping that “wrong” as you did will limit your options for help. Comes off as rude.
Your reseller is not Bambu Lab. Him not knowing is just proof of that.

Looks like maybe you owe someone an apology, and maybe give your “official reseller” the lashing you’re giving others.

I think I was misunderstood. I wasn’t expecting to be told to ignore the error message and that I should be aware that this plate wasn’t working as expected with my printer model, which is incorrect and shifts the responsibility onto the user. From a software perspective, it’s simply a matter of reading a QR code and comparing it to the expected value, not a new development !

That’s why it’s important that each of us reports bugs, even if they seem minor to some, so that the Bambu team can take them into account and fix them quickly.

The Engineering Plate does exist quite a while, that is correct. But the engineering plate for the H2 series came out last year November or December. So it is still some kind of new for the H2 series.

In case you bought it from a reseller who did not inform you about this note from Bambulab that the plate is currently not supported by the H2D firmware. I think it’s not the fault of Bambulab, it’s the fault of your reseller.

I ordered my engineering plate very early in the Bambulab EU store and this note was there from the very beginning.

So this is classified as a missing feature, it is not a bug.

It’s not correct. The webpage I took a screenshot says as much.

I love how people claim you can just code it and move on…it’s easy! When adding code or removing it you need to be aware of what that code impacts throughout the software. There’s a reason it’s not out yet for the X1 or H2D.

I agree. Your issue isn’t a bug though. No matter what you believe.

I don’t buy from the Bambu shop, and there was no warning on the local retailer’s website. Before blaming the reseller, we would need to know if Bambu has communicated properly with its retailers!

You just need to be a little logical; if the plate is rejected only when its identifier is checked, but removing this check allows you to use it without any problem, this demonstrates that only the identifier is missing or incorrect in the firmware.

Ok I agree, it’s not a bug, but let’s say an unfortunate oversight or poor coordination between different elements, which is not positive for the user experience

I’m seeing the same error on my P2S but not on my P1S after replacing both the P1S and P2S base plates with the BQ Glacier plate on both machines. Both printers now use the same new BQ Glacier plate, yet the issue of receiving this error, only occurs on the P2S. I also noticed that the “Cool Plate” appears as a choice in the base plate dropdown on the P1S but is missing on the P2S dropdown choices. I’ve since also learned how base plate selection and filament profiles are linked.

So, by creating custom filament profiles (via the three-dot in a circle), you can optimize temperatures, cooling, and other parameters specifically for the Glacier plate, then select those profiles (e.g., by naming the newly created filament profile, PLA Glacier Basic, PLA Glacier Silk, PETG Glacier, etc.) and it will use the parameters for that plate when sending the job to the printer.

I don’t know, but I’d imagine your retailer omitted it or plain forgot. If the information is available to us, then it’s available to him/her

I was logical. Whenever you introduce new code you can have new problems. Bugs pop up, incompatibility with the rest of the code, who knows. Even coding it in would require testing to find out IF there’s a bug. I would imagine it did introduce something to hold back the HD and X1.

I’m not sure I agree with you there, but I’m not going to argue it.

P2S Engineering Plate use a different code than P1S

I’ve tried printing them on sticker paper, I’ve tried Wham Bam plate stickers, I’ve tried BQ’s stickers, and I’ve tried with my label maker. I cannot get my HS to recognize any of those. Aggravating, but gives me a quest to work on.

You mean affixing an engineering label on a glacier plate that is not recognized by the H2S?

It happened to me on my first 2 attempts on my H2C until I needed a high contrast code. I cut a square of dark blue heat transfer vinyl that I ironed on. I then cut the code in white and ironed it on top of the square. It works every time.

It should work with sticker or anything, I just wanted it to be unremovable and could withstand the highest temperature of the heatbed but it’s certainly overkill.

I read somewhere that the vertical line before and the triangle after the code were both important (the spacing might be as well). I did not know that before I ironed my code, luckily I did not mess with any of them.

Btw, this is the code for the H2C, may be the same for H2S but I don’t know

I hadn’t thought of cutting them. Thanks, will give that a try. I’ll more than enough just to fill a line up on the vinyl.

I tried using a 3d printed code on my H2D that some people had a problem with and I worked with the poster of the model come to find out after I did a bunch of measurements and made my own stickers that worked I found that the printed model was only a couple millimeters off. So the sticker has to be in the exact place in order to work.
