When I try to print a model in PETG and have selected PLA as the support material, the printer doesn’t print. I get the error message “Check Hall sensor.” AMS is loaded correctly and the filaments were entered correctly. It seems as if no-name filaments aren’t being assigned correctly. Everything works fine in version 01.07.00.00. There’s a bug in the firmware. Please check.

Do you have any aftermarket devices attached to your printer.
The AMS can only read Bambu Lab filaments and preload those. Off name filament you have to manually configure the settings.
Yes, the filaments are registered as generic. As already mentioned: with 01.07.xx.xx everything works without any changes.
That comment about having any aftermarket devices attached to printer was based on a bunch of people having issues with their printers after BL upgraded their firmware past that 01.07 firmware. I did not have that issue personally but many did. A subset of those folks seemed to have various aftermarket electronics connected to their printers. BL rolled out the AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT at that time and were enabling features on both devices at the same time so not only were the printers getting firmware revisions but so were the AMS devices.

I had to revert to 1.07 because after some weird AMS error the printer kept on erroring and user pausing. Couldn’t make it do anything. Powering it off and back on. Restarting the print. Checked everything in AMS was fine. Once I reverted and queued up the same print and it worked first try. Zero problems. 1.08 seems to have issues. They do add AMS2 and AMS-HT support so they must have broke something when doing so.

I understand. Just be mindful that rolling back firmware gets you back printing in the short term, but it sort of locks you out of future hardware additions should Bambu Lab roll out other products. They will build that future hardware with what firmware is current at the time of roll out.
Just curious but do you have any aftermarket electronics connected to your printer?

I ain’t using some garbage firmware that is unreliable. Now the fixes are going to be with the new authorization control scheme too. I’ll update when I lose handy access on the old firmware likely and then turn on dev + lan. Would have been nice if the AMS-HT and AMS-2 support didn’t cause issues.

No. No aftermarket electronic. Everthing is normal how i ordered it from Bambu Lap.
I did not mean that it is garbage firmware at all. 01.07.00 firmware is Bambu Firmware. I am saying that as time marches on, Bambu Lab, in the course of production is going to sell machines and devices that that have the current firmware installed.
If I were to buy a P1S + AMS 2 Pro Combo two months from now I would anticipate that the printer will have 01.08.02 (minimum) firmware and the AMS Pro will have 02.00.19.68 firmware (minimum). So I connect everything and and the AMS 2 Pro is already configured for heating and drying.
I don’t know the answer to this question for sure, but based on my memory of the timeline, the AMS 2 Pro will likely not work for drying filament connected to a printer with 01.07 firmware because it was when they rolled out firmware above 01.07.00 that people started raising a ruckus about “Bambu Lab, you broke my printer”. My own AMS 2 Pro did not have heating and drying capability when I first hooked it up. Those firmware upgrades beyond 01.07.00 enabled heating/drying.
So what I am saying is that if Bambu Lab were to roll out a board that allowed an ethernet connection in the future, or some other device, it is liable to lock you out of using that board or device because your 01.07 firmware won’t support it.

- Bug fixes in 1.08.01
- New authorization control garbage is added in 1.08.02
- All of 1.08.XX series seems to have some bug that breaks printing completely
Classic scenario where new functionality is basically tied to firmware that changes how you interact with the printer. In this case you choose between usual Orca Slicer support or being able to use Bambu Handy based on if you need AMS 2 or AMS-HT support.
My opinion is that 1.08.XX is garbage because it has a printer stopping bug and 1.08.02 has terrible additional authorization control. If you want to still use Orca Slicer you will lose Handy access. I will be sticking with 1.07.XX for now that actually functions all the time. I may not upgrade ever if I don’t have to and certainly won’t be buying their new AMS products until they have a fixed version.

Ich bleibe auch bei 01.07.xx. In 01.08.xx wird man bevormundet und eingeschränkt. Bambu Lap muss dort wieder zu den Wurzeln kommen, wenn sie weiterhin ihre Produkte verkaufen wollen…
I’m sticking with 01.07.xx. In 01.08.xx, people are patronized and restricted. Bambu Lap needs to get back to its roots if they want to continue selling their products…
I have a P1S, two regular AMS’s, an AMS2 Pro and an AMS HT. All have the most current firmware and run with zero issues.
Mine ran for a while just fine. I think once AMS had an error due to filament getting stuck then the printer would no longer print. Only downgrading to 1.07.X fixed it.
My AMS have occasionally had the filament sort of “Locked” but I’ve always perceived it as either the primary feeder motor being in a sort of Locked Rotor state or the filament hub motor being in that same sort of Locked Rotor state.
If I mess with it enough, which usually amounts to cycling the power and/or loading/unloading the filament via the controls in Studio or Handy I can get the motor to release the filament. Once that happens, things are good.
I suspect doing a firmware rollback does the same thing which amounts to rebooting the printer+AMS system.
I’d suspect that you could go back to the new version and printer+AMS will run fine.
Rolling back firmware is a trap as time progresses because Bambu Labs may rollout products that won’t run on old firmware. Just like the Panda Touch requires old firmware to function, Bambu Labs will require new firmware to run.
No amount of changing anything fixed the issue. Just as other people have described above in this very discussion.

Exactly what additional features am I getting for updating the firmware to 1.08.0> Only AMS2 and AMS-HT. What about the latest update? Oh that is right zero new functionality, authorization changes that breaks the slicer I use. Not to mention it seems there are bugs in both 1.08 versions.
You can hypothesize all you want but I don’t see any reason to update firmware.
Your machine to do with as you please. That said, the number of people who lose functionality is a small drop in the bucket compared to the number of printers sold that run fine.
If you’ve modded your printer in a way that touches the electronics or g-code that might be the root problem. As using a Panda Touch might also impact runnability…
What are you even talking about?
Facts:
- There seems to be at least two different bugs affecting 1.08.X when using the AMS
- Both seem to occur after there is an AMS error
- Both seem to persist until the firmware is downgraded
- Nobody mentioned using Panda Touch
- Nobody mentioned they are using aftermarket electronics or altered gcode
- There is very little lost functionality reverting to 1.07 unless you need AMS-HT or AMS2 support
- There is arguably more anti-features in 1.08.X than new features
Write up an issue on Bambu Lab Github if you think there is a bug in the firmware.
