Hello this is a quick post that i need an answer to,
Does esun of qidi Asa warp more, there is a video from my tech fun comparing Asa and qidi and esun Asa seemed to come out on top.
I wanted to print Asa on a bambu a1 using an elegoo enclosure with a printed vent with a fan that leads to the vents on the printer rather than vents that lead into the enclosure making the enclosure pointless.
I wanted to know the difference and it seemed that esun Asa warped more but on Amazon it is £15.99 and qidi is £28.99 but the esun seemed not too much warping but was described as “finished with big warping” at the end of the video which may mean it looked better on camera than reality.
That test was on an open printer and I am using an enclosure however it is not as good as a corexy enclosed printer.
Would spending extra money to get qidi be worth it or not does anyone have any experience?
Note: I am referring to just the Asa and not any type of Asa+
Any advice would be highly appreciated and useful thanks.
Edit: why have 22 people viewed this but no one has come forwards with an answer even if you have never printed these brands of Asa you count still have some tips or experience with other Asa and why some might be different
ASA tremendously benefits from a 60C chamber heat. Way more important than the choice of vendor. If you do not have this capability, you should consider using a CF or GF flavor to help arrest the warping during printing, or you will be battling endless warping with glues, hacks, and hilbert curves.
On an A1 with a xardboard box, you should succeed on small objects, but you will suffer on anything large or tall
I am going to use Biqu glue on a pei bed but I can’t use an enclosed printer because I can’t afford one and I am saving up for an elegoo Neptune 4 to print nerf blasters because they are most likely to be hit by Washington hb2321 as it is both similar to a gun and may be mistaken by blocking software and nerf could also come forwards with copyright claims.
Because I vented the enclosure but only to the A1s vents the enclosure can get hotter without the printer malfunctioning so I might put in a panda breath or whatever their chamber heater is called however in the my tech fun video qidi Asa seems to warp much less but is more expensive.
Carry-size objects like a nerf blaster are gonna be tough to print in ASA on an A1. The non-moving parts can all be done in GF filament and probably be ok, but long smooth moving pieces that cant be abrasive (CF/GF) will be some trouble! Good luck and dont be disocuraged if you have to try a couple times.
You dont need to fear useless boomer legislation if you know how to use an SD card. These are the guys who thought that a popup asking “are you 18” is an ironclad defense against minors accessing extreme content. Not the brightest.
Yes, I am planning to use an offline printer to get around the bill and the 3D printing community pressured the bill into being dropped and the New York, Colorado, and California bills are next.
However it is a problem that most of 3D printing is about improving in designs and if I can’t slice files and can only use stuff made before the laws come into place then that is the main problem.
However with the Asa I don’t like carbon fibre filament as for some reason whilst it can sometimes make an annoying itch for some people, I feel extreme pain on touching carbon fibre that doesn’t go away with hand washing or tape and lasts for days along with the fact that because of this I don’t want the fibres grinding down everywhere.
Again, not something that you need to worry about. These boomers couldn’t tell you what an STL is if you gave them 8 hours and wikipedia. There is no american leader in the industry so they cannot lean on anybody to implement anything. The core of everyones software stack is and continues to be open source. You can run orca on a steam deck. Restrictions like the american media/govt circus are proposing will never materialize in a real way.
