I wanted to share something that recently happened with one of my models on MakerWorld, and I believe it’s important for the community to be aware — especially for fellow creators working hard to make useful content.
One of my most downloaded and functional models, a temperature tower I designed specifically for PLA, ABS, and PETG, was removed from the Exclusive Program. Here’s the link to the model for reference: Tower Temp / Temperature Tower Test - PLA-ABS-PETG
MakerWorld’s explanation was that my model was “too simple” and similar to others — even though there are many similar (and in some cases, simpler) towers still active and earning under the Exclusive Program. Examples:
I’ve designed the tower myself in Fusion 360, and I’ve submitted proof. The model was removed after guideline updates, not due to any real violation. They refunded me regular points, but I think that’s not enough when the model itself meets all the requirements and was earning consistently.
Just wanted to share this with the community and hear your thoughts or if anyone has experienced something similar.
If someone reports those other people’s models they’ll remove them from the program too. If I were you I would remove the calibration cube, the overhang test and the retraction test from exclusive status. If you remove them yourself you won’t loose anything and the difference between exclusive and non-excusive is what, 3 points? The risk isn’t worth the reward.
I like to think about it in the context of a department store. Is this something they’d advertise as exclusive, or is it just a house brand.
Like most stores wont advertise their house brand plastic silverware as exclusive. Maybe a unique lamp collection by Johnny Designer though. Although lamps are lamps, it’s that visual styling that’s making it exciting, exclusive.
Yeah it’s more of a reactionary system, for better or worse.
It appears subjective and at the whim of the staff member reviewing it, rather than an objective measure that designers can know BEFORE they upload the model.
The implementation and running of the exclusive program have been one misstep after another.
The only one who does not lose is BL, the removal of points, the time they take to do it, the fighting that has to happen - all blame the designer, no wiggle room to be found.
You would think that with such a popular model, they would work with the designer rather than waiting for ages. It isn’t exactly hiding out.
This photo is explanatory because I didn’t make it clear in the post, I had 21k exlusive points removed and I got 17k normal points.
Although I will not be able to access those points until I pay off the current debt, as you can see in my negative balance.
The model entered the exclusive program on November 25, 2024, and generated 14500 points and 465 impulses, a total of approximately 21475 points.
Just to give a few examples, because there are really hundreds like these. Repeated, simple, similar. This is what really bothers me, the lack of transparency on the part of BambuLab and that the punishments are completely handpicked.
And let’s not be innocent, Bambu doesn’t care if the model is simple, there is Maker World full of AI generated models, with AI generated miniatures, the “designers” denying that the models are AI generated, and here all contend… It’s absurd.
Bambu responded again today to my claim, here is his response, everyone can judge freely. I consider the issue closed, I have removed the similar models from the program, and my future designs will be in other places that simply meet the following criteria: clear and easy to follow rules.
As the actions are taken after a report, there is no prior review system for the designs that want to enter the exclusive system, and the final decision on compliance with the rules is left to the subjective criteria of whoever interprets them in each specific case, I say goodbye to this system.
Nobody will care of course hahaha, greetings colleagues!
