Exclusive program and Consolidation

Hey all, just a question about the Exclusive Program

I’ve been recently going through my uploads, and frankly I’m not happy with the bloat I’ve created

I have several uploads that could have been one model with multiple profiles, and I don’t actually know if it’s better or worse for points or not, I’d just rather have a cleaner profile with less… well bloat as I mentioned

I know that I’m not supposed to remove a model from the exclusive program for a set period, but am I allowed to consolidate multiple print profiles into a single model page? They would still be available on MakerWorld and not technically violate the rule I think

Anyone got any ideas?

I’d probably contact Makerworld and talk to them about it. Haha, I guess that’s not so easy, but still.

I think you’ve got the right idea, but it’s basically I’d ping them to make them aware of what you’re planning, and make sure you don’t break any rules while getting it sorted.

I was checking out your designs and can see why you might want to combine some of them. I think it might be worse for points if you did combine them, and probably reach too. To what extent though, I don’t know. I’d speculate not that much.

My thought is that separated apart, it’ll probably count more downloads/prints because if someone prints a couple different variations. For reach, it’s just more stuff you’ve got on the shelf, so more likely to come up in searches and stuff. Remember, I’m just speculating.

I get what you mean, this was my initial though, and why i made them all separated… But i guess if someone wants any one of them, collectively it’ll still get the download, and if someone prints multiple profiles it’ll count as multiple makes.

I think i just… i visited my profile and it felt… spammy

i kinda wanna turn this

Into this

I’m straying off topic a bit, but I’ll have a talk to support and ask if i can put the profiles all in one listing

Hey @jaayjeee, I get where you’re coming from. I’ve had the same dilemma with my uploads, trying to balance clean presentation with how the system counts downloads and makes. From what I understand, the rules mainly restrict removing something from the Exclusive Program, but reorganizing profiles under one model should be fine as long as the model itself stays up and available.

That said, I’d confirm with MakerWorld support, like you mentioned, just to be safe. It would be great if they allowed profile consolidation without any penalties, especially for creators who just want to tidy things up a bit.

I would always recommend combining them, as i feel it´s better for the user and seeing other models split feels often like spam to me. This is also what i do for all my models.

That said…

IIRC, you will get
1x Download for a model per user
1x Make for a model per user

It does not count for a different profile, it´s only per model - the first profile gets the credit for that. You can also see that if you check my models.

This is interesting where more makes exist than downloads for that profile.
This is a result in people downloading a different profile first but decide to print this one as their test / first print.

So, it comes at a price, but i think it´s worth in general.

Also this is why we have asked in the past a lot for RAW DOWNLOAD and PRINT statistics, aside from what give you points.

I think you’re right, I don’t want people to view my profile as a spammer, reminds me of those bigger creators on instagram that have “reply STL” with a bunch of bot responses to get you to their Thangs. It feels icky

I’ve reached out to @MakerWorld through support, but I’d love a response here too if they get the chance

Hello jaayjeee, we appreciate your intentions and suggest uploading these as separate profiles under the same model. You can make your current models private and re-upload them as different print profiles under a new model. Thanks for your thoughtfulness, and we also appreciate everyone who shared their feedback!
