Experiences with AI Spaghetti detection

I am just curious to what your experience is with the Spaghetti detection of the H2D.

In older posts, I read about a lot of issues, but so far I cannot share that opinion.
With the initial V01.01.01.00 and the latest V01.01.02.08, I have had 3 correct positive hits, but not any false hits, or false misses so far.
And that is after about 150hrs of printing and all settings to medium.

What is your experience so far?

Same here, haven’t had any false detections so far, 433 hours.

I think this would be better with a poll. Have you had false detections?

Since downloading the latest firmware, I haven’t had any false detections but have had a couple of times when it should have stop my print and did not. So fixed the false ones but appears to be letting some real situations go undetected.

I have mine set to the highest sensitivity, and no problems. In that respect, it works better than the spaghetti detection on my X1C. Maybe it’s the better camera together with the better lighting? Or maybe dedicated AI chips?

I think spaghetti detection is highly underrated: if running unattended, it’s the protection of last resort against the dreaded Blob of Death.

With the factory firmware, when I first tested it out of the box, I did have some false positives. However, no problems running later firmware releases.

I’ve had three spaghetti detections, and all of them have been correct.

I have yet to have a single AI detection event and have had spaghetti a couple of times. I wasn’t brave enough to let it play out though and both times just cancelled the print after a minute or two of letting it create a mess.

As a matter of fact, spaghetti detection saved my print this morning.

Fun fact: I held that prime tower by hand to stabilize it for the last 12 layers it needed to do filament changes.

What level are you using?

Medium. I didn’t change any settings on the printer at all for AI. I do occasionally wipe off all the camera lenses with a micro fiber rag and cell phone screen cleaner.

Come to think of it, I did have to replace my camera, so maybe the early errors were camera related rather than firmware related.

I had a first today , foreign object on the built surface .
and no they wasn’t . so that was a new one far me.

I’m using the default medium settings and happy to report that I have not have any false alarms and just one alarm that was real. Which I thought was interesting because some people said they had to set their detection settings all the way low.

with 0,2mm nozzles the prime tower sometimes triggers those alarms, when it prints first solid layers and the bridges fall. not really “false” but still, with the 0,2 nozzles, i turned the detections to low.

I had those a couple of times, but it was my fault because I was cleaning the build plate on startup.

Same here. No false detections but I’ve started to lose adhesion for PLA. So, moving parts and some spaghetti but the printer keeps on keeping on. I’m the default AI setting (mid?), so will try bumping it up.

What if your AI seems absent? Mine didnt even ding once, and i had lots of failures that it should have picked up

So , on the last print I had … that… What you can see in the photos.
A nice big flake ON the active nozzle.
AI didnt even sneeze.


I mean that thing was completely covering the nozzle, but no notification, or warning. Infact AI has not even given me a single warning apart from open door (but thats just magnet, not ai) since day 1.

Worrying…because if they exaggerated (or blutantly lied, depents on how you see it, and im bordeline seeing it as lies) about the AI , what else did they exagerated about? The extruders capabilities in auto calibration? the accuracy? Its becoming worrying seriously.

on the last photo the bed is not even there, you cant be serious and not understand that this is the flake im talking about and finger is for size. Seriously this community cant focus on matters at hand it seems. Honestly explain me your process of thought here. Im tired with you guys just spitting random comments unconnected to the topic. Did i complain about first layer adhession ? OR you think that after all this research and running a farm and yada yada, Im stupid enough to print with oily fingerprints? WHY do you have to be like this?

Do i REALLY have to explain that the flake was FIRST on the nozzle and thats before a new cycle of printprep? Kids…
Or do you really worry more that I dont know how to clean my plates, than if your hella expensive machine does what it promised? Theres some serious thought error right there…

As for how it ended up on the nozzle, its a complicated print with multiple colours and in ABS. It was expected that couple small parts will detach until I find the best settings. The question is WHY it kept printing like normal.
