External Exhaust Kit

Hi together, on my new P2S the update is still running, I used to read the readme and the update makes the P2S ready for an External Exhaust kit. On the Bambulab website I could not find the kit? Has anyone news about that?

I saw somewhere in the forums an official statement saying that it isn’t available yet.
It should be in the next couple of months though

I already found the manual on the wiki. Looks like there are 2 options (1 one replacing the rear panel) Second one on the existing air outlet. Will wait what Bambu calls for the rear panel!

In which case an exhaust would be useful ?
I mean for the moment I only print pla.

Just ordered the kit without the backplate from Aliexpress, due to be here in UK by 9th January.

I’d love to see more details in regard to the “default” rear panel mount option. It’s questionable if that’s truly exhausting the identical amount of VOC’s compared to the “Dedicated” rear panel…

Per the Wiki I’m only seeing info about the exhaust ducting being attached to the dedicated panel and not the default panel option… Honestly I’d only go with the dedicated panel. If that’s not availible in a timely manner or isn’t a reasonable price, i’d drill and create my own mounting option on the default panel.

I find these small “official” mods redundant and more of a move from Bambu Lab to control more of the 3rd Party accessories/mods that are to become available for this new gen of printers… The BIQU Panda Turbo became available and I snagged one quick. It’s a beast of a mod for the X1 Series and eliminated my summer heat creep issues in the shop plus added a small boost in print speeds due to the high speed 80,000rpm CPAP fan. I’d rather see “official” add-ons like that versus components that should’ve been included… Both the H2D “Enhanced” Toolhead Fan and this product feel pretty bleh in terms of any boost in reliability or effectiveness…

I can see how this would be useful when printing something like ABS oder ASA - but the wiki page states that the exhaust fan will be off by default when printing high temperature material, since you don’t want to blow the hot air out of the chamber - so what’s the point?

I’ve been kicking an idea around to mount a bathroom exhaust fan directly over the printer and exhausting it outside. Has anyone thought of something like this? It shouldn’t affect the heat within the P2S enclosure.

You don’t need to wait for a Bambu labs solution. There is already one available here: FNATR Vent System for 3D Printers | Powerful Fume Extraction & Filtration – fnatr, they already have a riser system, which draws fumes out of the cabin and into the filtration unit. Even when Bambu comes out with a “system” it will simply be a fan which draws air out, but it will not condition and air. This will work for those who vent to an outside window. Those of us who cannot, can rely on something like this FANTR, or run from the Bambu exhaust fan “solution” into an FNATR filter.

I had decided to go a different way to vent my P2S. I started put this together before this thread was started. Since I had already bought the variable speed fan and ducting I going to give this a try. I started with this: P2S Integrated Riser with External Exhaust - Free 3D Print Model - MakerWorld. Having a HVAC background the elbow that is 50mm to 100mm (4") is over kill. I’m still new to 3D printing and CAD programs so I need to make the elbow 50mm x 80mm. I have a narrow window where my printer is going to live. I took a piece of 1/4" plywood and cut to fit. I printed out a 80mm round to 122mm square. It was part of a collection by sky2024. I haven’t be able to find the page where I downloaded the original file from. I haven’t decide on the vent to the outside yet. One option is to print out a louvered cover that closes when there is no air flow. Another option is to get a louvered cover that has a bug screen in it and use a valve just before the exhaust adapter on the inside similar to this Shut-Off Valve for Multiple Pipe Sizes - Free 3D Print Model - MakerWorld. I took some 3/4 inch foam board and glued to the inside of the plywood. I printed everything out using PTGE.
