External Spool Auto refill

I wonder why AMS can’t refill when external spool ran out?

I have P2S with AMS 2 Pro. In the mid of print when external spool is out i am asked to refill external one manually despite having same filament type + color spool in my AMS

Just really wonder why. Looks like programming issue rather tech one

Makes sense to me, it seems like if you have an AMS connected it should be able to refill with it, assuming you have the proper merging adapters. If coded to do it.

The external spool has no motor and therefore cannot refresh automatically. This is only possible if both filaments are in AMS.

Nonsense. There is no need in motor for external spool. I guess you have not understood the case

  1. P2S prints with external spool
  2. External spool is out - as a result there is a tiny piece of filament in printing head left(btw the same situation as when AMS spool ran out, no difference)
  3. AMS feeds new filament to print head

That’s it

The AMS with bambulab filament works with RFID and therefore cannot see which filament is in the external spool

If you don’t use RFID you can still use auto-refill.

You just have to tell the printer they are the same.

so if I use filament without RFID in AMS means I can’t get auto refill, right?

You can manually set filament type and color both for ams and external spool fyi. I dont use spools with RFID at all

and that works perfectly within spools in AMS as well auto refill (manual setting type and color i mean)

With the AMS see wiki bambu :slightly_smiling_face:

I believe this is a feature request; the OP is not asking how to do it. I am pretty sure we all know this is not currently an option.

So, thank you for telling us to “see wiki” but I think you misunderstood the point of this thread.

Unless you know something I don’t know and have found a reference in the wiki that is helpful on this topic? (Because I looked and didn’t find anything.)

Okay, I’ve read this, let’s leave it at that, still good friends. :slightly_smiling_face:
