Totally lost in trying to load filament via the external spool holder one the X1C. I was using the AMS with no issue but now wish to print via the external spool holder as I have a cardboard spool.
I have followed the prompts to load the filament, I can see the filament coming out … then… when the print job is loaded it tells me to pull the filament back out again. Which I do, but that activates the AMS again and it errors out.
When I click this error… out comes filament from the AMS which I have disconnected to use the external spool, Why does the machine ask me to pull the filament out after I have fed it in?
Yes I did. I ended up disconnecting the AMS by unplugging the data / power connector and re-feeding the external spool. Not sure if that is the way to do it but it’s working for now.
It’s like it wanted to go back to the AMS… it was feeding filament out from the AMS onto floor as I disconnected the feed tube so I could use the external spool. Do I have to unload all the AMS filaments before I use the external spool?
I have never needed to disconnect the AMS to use the external spool. When you sliced, did you use the filaments that are loaded in the AMS? Or another filament that was not loaded into it? Just speculating that it was trying to use a loaded filament from when it was sliced.
Yeah. It is very important you select the filament on the external roll for your print before slicing it. To get the correct settings during slicing, you first must choose/indicate the filament on the external role in the device tab befor slicing the plate. Then when you select print, bambu slicer will ask you to confirm that the filament is the external roll. You will have to manually load the filament.
Now, when switching back to filament in the AMS, if you don’t unload the external filament, that is when i have gotten that error message.
