Extruder clogs printing first layer with part fan off

I have a pretty new Bambu P2S(100hrs), PEI Textured plate that came with the printer. I use the .4 nozzle.

I have bed adhesion and first layer problems printing PLA, including different brands(sunlu,inland, anycubic). The initial outer perimeter and inner areas don’t stick in places(see photos). Ive been trying to troubleshoot this in various ways.

I created a test print that is just a single layer to make things simple(cube .2mm high). The only way I can get a near-perfect first layer is to turn off both the part and aux fans and set the hotend temp to 220c and bed to 65c and slow down the first layer to 30mm/sec. These seems to be the going recommendations from Bambu to resolve the issue.

But now a new problem cropped up: the extruder keeps getting clogged every other print in the first layer too. I have to disassemble and remove the “jammed” filament from the extruder metal gears that pull it. Heating the hotend doesn’t release the filament cause its jammed in there and doesn’t get hot enough to soften it (this is really hard on the extruder, i have to punch the orange plastic gear shaft out of the bearing with a lot of force to get it out). Fortunately Bambu has excellent docs on how to fix the extruder jams.

Doing some research as to the possible cause of the clogs is “heat creep“, which i understand as heat from the hotend creeps up to the extruder and softens the filament- makes sense since the fans are off.

Of course, i have gone through the calibrations many times as well.

Seems like a catch 22 i’m in. If i’m able to get past the first layer, usually the rest of the print usually comes out fine.

I always clean the bed with soap and water, its squeaky clean.

Any thoughts on this syndrome?

As a followup to my last post-

  1. part of the bed adhesions problem likley due to printing really thin layers(.08 hue forge prints) with PLA using a textured plate- makes sense that would cause these types of issues.
  2. I got the cool tack plate from Bambu, and have printed several things with a thin first layer and everything comes out perfect, not one issue.
  3. The cloging? likley just a series of things that lead up to hot temperature printing due to the original layer adhesion issue.

I realize now i probably could have solved this to begin with by just printing the first 1-2 layers at a normal layer height or set thicker hue forge layers in that app.
