I received the following error while printing on my A1 with the AMS Lite:
"Failed to extrude AMS A Slot4 filament; the extruder may be clogged or the filament may be too thin, causing the
extruder to slip."
This is a long 18 hr print and I have about 3 hrs left. I don’t want to waste the filament and stop it at this point. I can’t see any tangles in the filament so not sure how to proceed.
I followed the QR code to the Wiki (HMS_1200-2000-0002-0006: Failed to extrude AMS1 Slot1 filament, the extruder may be clogged, or the filament may be too thin, causing the extruder slipping | Bambu Lab Wiki). It says to try to push the filament cutter and pull out the filament and check it. But that doesn’t work. I push the cutter and hold the extruder release lever still can’t pull the filament out from the roll (it’s still stuck).
If the extruder is clogged, is there a way I can unclog it while leaving the print active? How should I proceed?
In step 4 on the Wiki it says “If the problem still exists, please check whether the extruder or hot end is clogged”. How can you check if the extruder or hot end is clogged?
After you cut the filament, you need to pull back on the extruder release lever located on the left side of the hub. I little tug is all that is needed. Sorry I don’t have a pic handy to show you.
Yes, I know. I did that and it doesn’t release.

I had a similar issue a few weeks ago. I swapped PTFE tubes and ports that it went to on the print head and it worked. Not really sure if I had a bad tube, but it worked for me.
You got this error and fixed it by swapping PTFE tubes? Seems odd. Were you getting the same error message? What firmware versions are you running (A1 & AMS Lite)?
Still stuck on this error. I haven’t stopped the print yet since I’m trying to not waste the time & filament on this print. I currently can’t clear the error and re-start the print. Nothing I’ve done will clear the errors. If I try to restart all it does is report back the error. If anyone else has any advice on how to get this working, please share.
I am running the latest version of the firmware. I can’t remember what it is off the top of my head. But it kept jamming and retracting back. I switched the PTFE tubes, cut off about a foot of filament and the issue resolved.
That’s a frustrating situation, especially so close to the end of a long print! If the filament is stuck and won’t pull out, try heating the nozzle manually via the printer settings to see if softening the filament helps release it. Sometimes, slight pressure while the nozzle is heated can dislodge a minor clog. If the extruder is clogged, you might be able to clear it using the cold pull method, but that usually requires pausing or stopping the print.
Hi im having the same problem, i get extruder error or clogging. Im using a A1 with ams lite. I only use bambulabs filament PLA, basic. I spent so much money on new nozzles but it always ends up clogging no matter what i do. I think my problem is the ams lite. But i dont see any way to write direclty to bambulabs. The printer is under a year old. First month it printed without any problems day and night. I have oiled it and everything.
I always have to take out the nozzle and rip out a piece of filament stuck in the nozzle and then restart the print. Takes like 30seconds and same problem. I just spent about 150bucks to buy new filament and loaded them thinking my old pla is old and bad. Im so tired of this and I would not recommend anyone to buy this printer. I had creality before and it never had any problems.
