Extruder Jam H2D PSA

My H2D just hit 1,200 hours and was starting to have feeding issues.

I am running ABS prints where it will take 3-4KG of filament. I have been getting intermittent issues with failure to feed. I assumed it was always the 4 in 1 PTFE adapter causing issues since I opened it and found a massive buildup of PTFE debris. Cleaning it fixed my issue for a while.

Today I opened up my tool head to evaluate my extruder since the filament was showing signs of jamming. My god it was like Tony Montana had a party in my tool head. Piles of white PTFE dust, PTFE dust in the nozzle head, PTFE dust in the extruder gear, PTFE dust everywhere, it looked like a Christmas hell of jams and blockages.

When the PTFE tubes hit the right side of the enclosure and shed like a nerd with a scalp condition I am convinced some of it gets in the tool head. If you have failure to feed issues from the AMS check the tool head for PTFE build up.

I cleaned the white satan dust from my machine and it runs like new again.

Good to know about. My H2D is approaching 1000h and so far running great but I will keep an eye on it thanks for the tip.

Addendum; this problem came back.

the filament guide shows unusual wear and the gear jammed filament so hard it formed a v shape.

The more i use the h2d the more i feel this unit is an immature design that needed more testing.

I agree it should be a stronger material.

This is very frustrating, I had a 30 day printing project due monday. I even gave myself a week buffer time. But between all the jams, feed errors and related BS I’ll miss it. I never had these issues with my x1c.

My filament guide looks similar but functions without issues. I did pick up a spare for future use its only $5, but so far 2500+ hours and its running fine.
