I was sorting through my stored filament and found a number of still sealed cartons of Bambu Lab filaments that have been around a few years. Wondering about the shelf life of these factory sealed spools. Two of them date to the first or second month when you could order filament after the release of the AMS units. I have 3-4 factory vacuum sealed TPU spools too. I opened the boxes and the sealed bags are very tightly sealed.
I opened a White TPU 95 spool, threw caution to the wind, and tried to print a part I needed. No drying first. Perfect print for me. Second one also. So having sat almost 3 years sealed I encountered no issues. Was stored in a cool area and dark conditions.
My question is what is the reasonable life for sealed Bambu PLA, PETG and TPU 95 filaments. I have around 6 still sealed spools that old that I just pushed to the back or never found a need to open and use them, but don’t want to see them become unusable.
I’ll have a harder time using up the TPU 95 than the others…I just don’t need items in that filament much….but they did make a good push button to repair a Weber Grill lol.
