I have been using an X1C with AMS for about 6 months or so. I recently began having the error “failed to extract filament” from the AMS when the unit is trying to change colors. I took it apart and checked to make sure nothing was stuck in the internal hub (where the 4 tubes first come together inside the unit) and could not find any fragments stuck in either of the four paths. I could not push a spare filament piece back into it from the outlet side as I have seen on videos. I could push a piece through each of the four paths from the other side without difficulty. So I suspect there is something stuck in the hub but don’t want to make it worse. Is there a best way to clear this?? Thank you.
I took the hub apart and did not find any issues with the internals, nothing stuck in there, as best I could tell in my version of this device you cannot push a piece of filament in from the output side as there are metal switching mechanisms blocking the path in that direction, they all move easily. Perhaps I’ll just buy a new internal hub, it’s only $54…
So far, it’s doing a multi hour print with three different colors and has not failed yet. Somehow just rebuilding that device did the trick. I don’t know we shall see.
