Failed report for bad reviews

I recently received a 1 star review on one of my models in which the user was very rude and not only insulted my work but me.

I reported the incident to @MakerWorld, but the next day I received a notification that it had failed. How does something like this not qualify for being removed?! Not only is the review invalid as he did not follow the instructions of the model, but also qualifys for Bullying and harassment as well as misinformation by stating that it is impossible for any magnet to hold the model. Is makerworld too busy taking down hueforges from the exclusive program to bother with an actual report?

He claimed to have “checked the magnet grade,” what makes you so sure he didn’t follow the instructions?

It’s evident that he isn’t genuinely interested in resolving the issue. However, since his vulgar language is mostly confined to the comments following the review rather than the review itself, this likely explains why Makerworld opted not to remove it.

Here he posted another 1 star review of someone else’s model in my comments. The model has magnets listed with it and the ones listed are N45 not N50. Not only that but in the description I say that i can only guarantee that the specific magnets I have listed In my BOM will work and all other sized profiles where requests by other users to test with other magnets

As well I would think that maker world would remove the insulting comments if not the review

Have you reported the individual comments?

Yes, I did, But none of them where taken off.

A few thoughts, for what it’s worth.

I think part of the problem is, you engaged with him. You fed the troll, so to speak.

I know it’s frustrating. I was looking at the given object, and I can see it almost drops your rating below 4 on that print profile. It’s not the best review, and I think you have a valid argument to have it taken off, but at the same time, I think you soiled yourself when you responded to that person the way you did.

My thought is you should have just given a simple response of “sorry it didn’t work out for you. It’s been working for me with the magnets I listed in the description”, or something of the sort. Just factual, and reaffirming that it’s working for you, or that certain variations of the model were done by request and may not perform fully as intended. Then, reported the review and move on.

Certainly the second review of not your model can be reported, haha.

My point is, sometimes you just gotta take the hit. Fighting it, especially arguing with people, can just make it worse and cause you more stress. It gives you less of a leg to stand on too when you engage with people in a more defensive stance.

When others stumble across that review and the responses too, it isn’t going to look super great for you. If you gave a short factual response, I think it would help direct people’s attention more towards the shortcomings of that person’s review rather than the argument between the two of you.

I know it’s all easier said than done and not as straight forward. I’ve argued with enough people online to get that, ha. I’ve also argued with enough people to realize the stress it causes and would advice others to try and avoid doing things that causes that stress to build.

Thanks for the advice. But its soooo hard not to respond to something like that. I tried to offer assistance and make sure he used the right thing. But sadly I think the ending of my first response meant to be humorous came across as antagonist. But taking that and escalating it to the point of flat out insults is on him and I think at least those should be taken down.

I’ll try to ignore any more I get. I still think that that is within reason to remove though. If @MakerWorld would like to provide more information on why any of these comments and reviews would not be removed it would be greatly appreciated.

I think those ought to be removed. Even it the model is actually horrible (which it most likely isn’t) they’re supposed to rate the profile not the model. I think they should’ve given it 5 stars as it looks like it printed great!

@MakerWorld seems to side with he low raters over the designers, even with criticism unrelated to the print profile. “didnt stick to bed” “broke when i dropped it from 3ft” “my mom called me to dinner and we had meatloaf, i wanted chicken” etc. Its a shame many of us designers try hard to make cool models only to be kneecapped by level 2-10 beginners that dont even know how to print. There should be a minimal IQ bar set for rating.

That’s a great point, and I must admit I completely overlooked it.

Or even if there was some sort of consequence for leaving inaccurate reviews. Like if you do a bad job of reviewing or are being destructive in the comments they give you a temporary ban to comment or write reviews. If after the ban lifts and they continue to do so the ban becomes permanent.

That’s true. When I read it I felt like he was rating the magnets he chose. I read the other person’s review where the person said it wouldn’t stick and when @MM_Printing asked if he used the suggested ones he said “Some random ones from Aliexpress” lol.

Yeah, he should leave some nice Ali Express reviews then :joy:

Just a note regarding magnets: most of the Maker’s supply magnets are rated N35. The weakest ones I can get at my local suppliers are N38. The only decent one from Maker’s supply is in theory CA001 (4x2mm) rated N50M. Regarding strength, the difference between my usual N42s (good price/strength ratio) and Maker’s Supply N35 is VERY noticeable.

That’s why I have it linked to the 4x2mm ones and use those in my design

Good News: After reporting all of the comments again Bambu removed one of them!
Bad News: After reporting all the comments again they only removed one of them.
Still at least they did something. Happily the profile that was reviewed still has a 4 star at least.

With all due respect, you were the first one being rude to him:

“Don’t waste your time writing a terrible review until you actualy follow the instructions.”

Any time you post something like this it shows you’re getting defensive and inviting the other person to get defensive. I was honestly expecting the reviewer’s comments to be significantly more rude and vulgar than what I read. Maybe it’s just my personality but the 1 star is worse than anything he said.

If your goal was to get him to change this review, you should have tried to de-escalate instead of engaging in the back and forth sarcastic banter.
