Over the last 4 or 5 prints when the print gets to 99% and is in the “cleanup” stage of clearing the filament from the extruders I get the following message on the right extruder:
Printing paused:
Failed to extrude the filament.
When I check the right extruder, the filament has reversed to the ready state, and in the nozzle is a, roughly, 3 inch section of the last filament used on the right side. Cut on the spool filament and on the filament still in the extruder looks clean and right.
The filament left in the extruder is not “fixed” in the extruder (not stuck in the head) and easy to come out. I have checked the PTFE tube each time and it seems to be fully inserted. There are no clogs in the head as well.
What should I be looking at, and do I potentially need to replace the Extruder idles and filament sensor or Cutter?
I am running a H2D with two AMS 2 PRO units, one to each head. I am running Firmware version 1.02.02.00.
Are you printing large parts?
And is the stuck filament in the extruder side that hasn’t been used for a long time in the print you just finished?
It might have broken due to the movement of the tool head for a long time while the filament wasn’t feeding. This causes the filament to eventually break.
I am printing ammo boxes by @coconut that I have printed many of (gunsmith and clients like them as do I) in the 1450+ hours of printing without this issue. Yes, there was a delay of about 2 hours from printing on the right extrude (problem side) and the completion of the print.
