Currently, the AMS can automatically switch to another slot if multiple slots are configured with the same filament (same brand and color). This is great for consistent prints, but it’s limiting when printing technical parts where appearance (color, finish, etc.) isn’t critical.
Suggestion:
Allow users to specify a fallback filament from another AMS slot even if it’s a different color or brand for example, by adding a per-print setting like:
“Use this AMS slot if the primary runs out.”
This would make it easier to continue prints using whatever filament is available, without having to physically reload the empty slot. It would be especially useful for overnight prints so that it potentially finishes by morning.
