Aside from auto generated or painted/blocked supports. Having the ability to manually add or remove supports would be a great feature.
In the Simplify 3D software once supports are added you can fine tune those supports by adding more or removing excess. Also, you can just start out by manually adding supports exactly where you need them. It is a great feature.
Some will say just use the paint feature, but this isn’t about painting and letting the slicer place supports it is about you being able to place supports specifically where you want them or removing just the supports you don’t want.
What does Simplify 3D do differently?
Manually painted supports only appear where I place them. If I paint too large an area, I can paint with a right-click to block the excess.
This is already possible using two powerful tools:
- As you already mentioned: the painting tool.
- Additionally, modfier and block support cubes.
This covers 95% of possibilities, although this is probably more time-consuming than using a $200-a-year program. I understand what you mean - watched the video, and yes it’s just a single click. The price of this software has to be justified somehow. In short, the programme is designed to do as much thinking for you as possible.
Don’t get me wrong; I’m always in favour of having more options. But actually, the options already exist - it just takes two more clicks. In addition, painting as offered by Bambu is more powerful than you think? - as you can force the slicer to support even side walls.
If you want full control - It’s important that you also switch to: manual

Is S3D up to $200 now? I have two copies but don’t really use it much anymore!
There are just times I run across issues with supports and say man if I could just remove that part it would be good or I just need a little there and good.
I have not tried modify/block cubes for supports.
I do get times where it wants to put supports in places that make no sense and I cannot get rid of them no matter what. I had a case recently that was just like your example. Supports on a side wall that would not go away. Didn’t matter what I did!
I use painting a lot and mostly to block unneeded supports but sometimes it’s like Bambu thinks it knows better and places them anyways!
This idea probably won’t get any traction but maybe it will inspire some other good control for supports.
I think my other request for supports may be more valid. At least it is something I’d use a lot.

You should definitely try it, it’s pure gold and actually exactly what you’re looking for, just a little more complicated than the program you mentioned, but also more powerful. Maybe they even answered your second topic, maybe.
