Feature Request: Assembled Model Visualization with Selected Filaments

Hello everyone,

I have a request for an additional feature that could be interesting.

Sometimes, there are models that require printing multiple components to be assembled later.

These components often need different colors, but there is no way to see the assembled and colored model with the filaments you have available or plan to buy.

It would be very interesting for both the user and the maker, as well as for BambuLab, to have the ability to color the various parts on the model page and see it assembled with the chosen colors.

BambuLab could also include direct links for purchasing the required filament.

In the end, the user would have a precise idea of how the model would turn out and could add the required filaments to the cart with a click (similar to Maker’s Supply).

The only drawback I can think of is that for this feature to work, the maker would likely need to upload the complete and assembled STEP file or something similar.

But in my opinion, this could be interesting, especially for more complex models.

What do you think?

I like it a lot in theory. In practice it could be kind of difficult to implement without requiring a bunch of extra leg work. People’s files can come from any number of sources. A step file isn’t even guaranteed, as someone may not even use a cad application for their creation, or their whole assembly may not even be contained within one file as such.

It would be super cool though. I can imagine loading up one of my models into a viewer and getting to customize the colors to decide what to use! I do this in my 3d package all the time, haha, so to extent that to the end user would be, as the kids once said, the bomdiggity.

Maybe an assembly maker tool. Like a simple 3d layout tool in the browser that’ll let you pull in the bambu slicer plates, and re-arrange the models into an assembly. An optional step as part of the model upload process. Might be tedious-ish in some cases, but would only need to do it once, and doesn’t need to be done for every design.

Yes yes yes! that would be super cool and handy!
If they could just include the Assembly view of BambuStudio that would be already immensely useful.

I’m not sure how different your request is for what is possible right now. Except for the ability to provide a link to the filament in Bambu store, I’m able to do something like below.

Basically, I set the first plate with the assembled model complete with the colored parts. This provides the ability for the user to visualize the assembled product as well using the PREVIEW button on the model page. Once opened in Bambu Studio, the user will see the actual filament brand and color used.

That’s really cool. Never thought doing this.

So yes that’s basically the same thing. The only difference is that having a built-in assembly view on the model page would allow us to preview and colorize models that are bigger than the build plate once assembled.

And the ability to select each filament and get the cart filled with them automatically.
