[Feature Request] Creator Awards? Youtube Play Button equivalent

I was wondering if @MakerWorld has considered offering a (non-monetary, digital or physical) award for creators reaching significant milestones on the platform—something akin to YouTube’s Play Button. While I’m not usually one for decorative items, an award like this would absolutely earn a spot on my wall. This hobby has become a lasting part of my life, and a recognition like that would make it even more special.

I was thinnking about something like reaching X amount of Downloads (total downloads per user account):

  • 100.000 Downloads
  • 1.000.000 Downloads
  • 10.000.000 Downloads

Same or combined for Prints.

It should be combined downloads and prints as are all other milestones (downloads + (2 x prints))

It is worth pointing out only 11 models have hit your bottom level of 100k if combined and none are close to the 500k let alone 1M.

If the idea is to make it something to aspire to, it must be achievable by more than a tiny few, but, not by all or it devalues it.

I would recommend the first one being 35k for no specific reason.

  • Select the pencil near title
  • Select the second category box
  • Choose the matching related “request “ for the category

maybe an .stl for the trophy?

i don’t think this is a good idea, the website already have contest, adding this will create elitism thus disrupting the community.

I’m fine with using an aggregated value, but I don’t think the x2 factor should apply to prints in this case. While the reward points system is a separate topic, I don’t see why prints should be considered twice as valuable when determining a threshold. Including such a factor would only make the topic more complicated.
For example, how would you phrase the title of the award: “Congratulations on passing 100,000 (downloads + prints × 2)”

My suggestion pertains to total downloads per user account, not downloads on a per-model basis.

I considered setting lower thresholds, but given the platform’s age and its rapid growth, I wouldn’t go lower than these values—especially when factoring in combined downloads and prints.
I believe the threshold should also depend on the type of award. If it’s a physical award, I wouldn’t expect Bambu Lab to send out hundreds of them. However, for a self-downloadable certificate or model, the threshold wouldn’t be as significant.

Yes, I considered designing my own model, but the idea felt awkward and would contradict the very purpose of the award.

I don’t see how reaching a download milestone and receiving some form of recognition would disrupt the community. Printables, for example, awards certificates for such achievements without causing any issues on their platform. This interaction is primarily between the platform and the creator. In my experience, I haven’t seen anyone bragging about their download counts or similar stats on this or other platforms. To me, it simply feels like a thoughtful gesture.

I didn’t get that from your initial post.

That makes more sense.

If it was the same as all other rewards (downloads + 2xprints), I would just get past the bottom 100k and according to the recent annual report, I am in the top 100 designers and point receivers over the past year.
