I’d like to have the option to lock my print settings from being adjusted unless I do it myself. I have my AMS set to recognize the 4 rolls of PLA in it.
Even after I’ve pressed the button to sync with the AMS it keeps the wrong filament choices. Additionally, if I want to download a 3MF from Makerworld or launch Bambu Studio directly from the site, not only does it mess up the filament selection, but often it gives me print profiles meant for entirely different machines. I’m tired of constantly having to double check my settings, even when designing my own projects because Bambu Studio swaps settings on its own, or the model I download is set up for a printer I don’t own.
Please let me lock my materials, layer heights etc. from being change unless I manually modify them.
Yeah, first steps for me when loading a profile from MW are always to select the right printer, print bed, and sync with the AMS (lite). I think the UI doesn’t always update properly for the AMS though, as it might still say PETG (but have the right color), or Generic PLA (instead of Bambu PLA) or vice versa, but I notice when click the dropdown to “correct” it, the right thing is listed there… not confusing at all!
It would definitely be nice to lock the printer profile, plate and filament types. However I think one problem with locking the printer profile might be that some of the process settings might be updated then also since they are also linked to the printer profile, so you then would lose the customised tuning by the author with the way things currently work
The filement configuration is stored with the project file so when Bambu Studio loads a .3MF project file the complete configuration is restored.
That’s the meaning of a “project”, to be able to repeat a work.
To add the option to not change the actual filament choices Bambu Studio is a good idea.

I get this, but my point is I don’t care about the settings that are uploaded most of the time. I understand the point of having profiles is for new and less experienced users to be able to successfully print without much struggle. I usually don’t use any of these settings though and have to manually set everything back to the way I had it each time I decide to open it.
Sure, but this doesn’t fix the issue in the pictures, where my own designs from Fusion 360 are loading up with materials I’ve never even used and definitely don’t have in my AMS.
On the few occasions I do download something from Makerworld it’s usually a large multi-plate project, so downloading the STL’s means the layouts aren’t saved. All I’m asking is that I have the option to keep my settings the way I’ve set them up.
