[Feature Request] Reorder Plates in a project

+1 for this very important feature. As I design my own multi plate prints it’s a huge pain to logically rearrange plates by deleting and recreating every plate after the one I want to move.

You can’t move a plate but you can grab an object on a plate and move it to another one without the need to delete anything. With enough moves, you can effectively “reorder”.

Seriously? I think we all know that. And that’s exactly the problem we’re asking to fix. Try that with several dozen objects across 9 full plates where you want to move plate 5 to position 1, plate 2 to position 8, etc. Then after you’re done, you realize plate 5 should have gone to plate 3. It’s simply not feasible, whereas simply dragging plates around is drop dead simple and logical.

To build on this, if you hold Shift and click and drag with the left mouse button Bambu Studio will allow you to drag a selection rectangle. This will select each part inside the box. Then click the move button (M) and it allows you to move all of the objects you selected together. Makes “reordering” plates really simple until a feature to drag plates around is added.

Thanks to everyone backing this - I can’t believe we’re still even waiting for an implementation🙄
I feel like I’m going to have to go and implement this myself in prusaslicer and either hope bambu pull regularly from there, or will take a hint if I literally point them at working code

Brilliant.

Yes, I do this all the time. It beats deleting and recreating plates. The objects retain their settings.

I was just going to add, “Select All” for the selected plate only. Thanks Jon

+1, @BambuLab please push an update to your studio! We need better control over plate order as they represent layers of our projects!

Apparently posts must have at least 25 characters.

or a picture…

But all that is really needed here is a like:

This would be really handy for multiple plate prints.

I am surprised this isn’t already possible.

I have a few Studio projects that have a ton of stuff in them. Each plate is usually for a different size of an item (Small, Medium, Large) with a number of related parts.

Often, I want to build a new plate with a mix of items for a specific category however you can’t move, cut, copy or paste a build plate. Is that something that Bambu could add to Studio? It’s more or less to provide users more organization, grouping and categorizations as their projects grow.

Currently, I have to move the pieces to a new plate and then shift everything manually. Annoying overall…

Don’t know if it will help you but have you tried selecting the parts on the build plate (right click on the plate and click select all for example) then copy ( e.g. CTRL+C ) select the new plate and then Paste (e.g. CTRL+V). With it all the parts that you’ve selected on the first plate should appear on the new plate with the same inter part alignments but the group could be misaligned to the plate which can be corrected with dragging the group in place while they are all still selected. However build plate and object specific settings will need to be done manually on the new plate.

Yep, I do that already. I would love to just rearrange the plates in the desired order.

How does Bambu Labs prioritize and schedule requests into DevOps? I work for a large software company and understand how that process typically operates. This feature request has been here over a year and I wasn’t sure how closely Bambu watches these conversations.

The forum isn’t where I would suggest trying submit requests.

If you want your request to have a chance to be seen by developers.
