Feed filaments to both nozzles?

I’m sure I read on the forum once that Bambulab were working on a module whereby filaments from a connected AMS unit/s could be routed to either the left or right nozzle - this would mean the printer has all filaments available to either nozzle, hence reduces the need to switch colours around between left/right inputs after slicing.

Anyone have any details?

Are you guys talking about the same thing? What’s the source of these rumors, anyway?

Well there are already a number of switcher “systems” out there for the printing, pretty sure I even saw a motorized one (with some kind of remote control IIRC). I mean for switching which head/printer an AMS or dry box feeds into. So yea being able to control that from the printer(s) would be the next logical step. Multiple printers can fight it out for who gets the filament… Someone’s probably already hacked that for an open-source printer firmware!

I was sure I read something here on this forum about it, but now can’t find it! Very similar to the above post you link to, where there was rumor of some kind of hub so you no longer connect AMS units to either the left or right nozzle - you connect them to the hub, and the hub sends any filament from any AMS to the correct side for you, live, as you print. No manual switching etc required……

This would be ideal - so slice the model and let the system decide on which filaments should be on which side for the most efficient printing in terms of material wastage and print time, and then just send the print job to the printer, where the hub will send filament to each side automatically as and when needed…..
