while waiting i was playing around with the slicer and found out a few things…
1- why is there no 0,28 EXTRA DRAFT profile for the 0,4 nozzle?
2-why does it create a sirt line ?? (cant remember the h2d did it)
3-can i actually tell wich vortek nozzle uses wich color? seems like it chooses them automatically?
For the 0.4 nozzle there is no 0.28 mm EXTRA DRAFT profile simply because that specific combination has not been created and tuned as a default preset.
The standard profiles are limited to a few validated layer heights per nozzle, where the balance between speed, print quality and reliability has been tested. Bambu Lab has not created a 0.28 mm layer height profile even for the H2D—and it probably won’t appear now that they seem to have developed dementia and forgotten they even had a product called H2D.
Bambu Lab only adds layer heights they have thoroughly verified and tested, which is a reasonable engineering approach. However, nothing prevents you from creating your own 0.28 mm profile:
You’ll get exactly the profile you want, but you’ll need to do your own research and testing to dial it in properly. That’s the tradeoff for going beyond the officially validated presets.
0.28 doesn’t really work well on H2s, a lot of extrusion issues, won’t really bet on that
I haven’t seen any option to assign colors to nozzles. The slicer seems to prefer to use a nozzle that has the exact same filament in it. Failing that it selects a nozzle with the same material but the least amount filament needed to flush. Failing that it selects a nozzle that has a different material (haven’t experimented a lot with that).
The second option (same material, different color, least amount of flush) does tend to be annoying when all of the nozzles shipped with the H2C seem to contain black PLA from testing. I’m mainly printing blue/white/red at the moment so the slicer just wants to use the same couple of nozzles and flush every start of the print instead of using one of the “black” nozzles. I solved this by just removing the nozzles that have a color in them I know I want to use later on so the slicer is forced to assign one of my colors to an unused (black) nozzle.
It’s a bit annoying to have to plan ahead like this rather than having some way to override nozzle assignment from studio (preferably with some sort of dialog that shows all available nozzles and what color/material they currently contain).
if it works on the a series there is absolutely no reason it shouldn’t work on the h series i think !
i know i can create one but i think it should be there from the start… im using it on the a1 allt he time…
cant wait for it to arrive… i hope they will change this in future updates…
it never worked well on both of my H2 printers.
For #3: In the filament selection screen you can now click the nozzle under the filament to assign a different nozzle for that material. It’s not really intuitive but it’s there.
