Hello Bambu Lab world. I have a P1S with AMS. I am a newbie as well. O am wondering if there is a way to determine how much Bambu filament is left on a specific the spool before I start printing with that color. Bambu Studio will display how much filament a print will take but if I know how much filament is left on the spool I will know if I will run out before the print is finished. Thanks to all that can answer my question.
There is nothing that is standard that is available. However there are a couple of after market approaches which a DIY-minded tinkerer might try.
The first is to create a sort of odometer that reads the amount of length.
Here’s a YouTube search term that will aid in finding other variations of this approach.

The other approach is to use a spool scale from Creality and adapt it to the P1S. Obviously, this approach will only work with a non-AMS unit.

For BL filament, I use 256grams as the weight of a spool and the cardboard roll center. So weigh the partial roll and deducting that, and you can see roughly how much is left. The Slicer shows both, length and weight of fitment required for a print.

With a bit of more creative research, one could find even more options to choose from.
Hi,
I had the same question when I started with 3D printing. Weighing the spool and calculating the remaining amount would mean I had to take them out of the AMS to do so which did not sound like a good solution to me.
What I did instead was using a table (mine is in Notion, but excel works fine as well). Every spool I purchase is being added into the database with a unique reference. Each time I print something, I take note of the weight of each filament being used and record it into the database. When I want to know how much is left on a specific spool, I list all the entries that I recorded for that spool, calculate the sum and deduct it from the total weight of the spool (usually 1kg). That gives me the exact amount of filament left.
It takes some discipline in recording everything you print, but it is accurate…
