Is my filament buffer supposed to make any sounds? It make a sound that is similar to a slinky. I believe it is the spring, and do not remember it making sounds when I first bought it.
For clarity, because a new product was recently announced that some are incorrectly calling a buffer, do you mean the thing on the back of the printer that came with the X series printer or the new TPU Feed Assist Module?

Generally, no it should not.
You can unscrew it, and check for anything stuck and then put it back on.
If you have at least two AMS units, this would be a hub, not the buffer.
You can remove that and check it the same way.

If you have dissembled it, unstuck anything that could have been and made sure the spring is freely moving, and you still have issues…
Take a video with your volume ramped up and the phone jammed as close as possible to the source of the noise, actual video footage is nit required.
Then upload to YouTube and leave as a private video (this is still public, just not searchable. Do NOT mark as “made for kids” ^^, this doesn’t do what everyone thinks. Copy the URL and share it here so we can hear what you experience.
^ Made for kids marks your video as “for kids” and restricts it. They should have asked “is this video targeted for kids and not adults?”.
