C’mon Bambu I don’t need another copy of a filament profile just to have a correct price on filament cost. Just make it editable. There’s no need to make a copy of the profile. I don’t need tons of profiles clogging up the list.
Yeah it’s silly. I have an open ticket over on GitHub for fixing this (not only cost, but anything).
You can edit the included default profiles directly (plain-text JSON files) but those may get overwritten if there are updates. Depending on the filament, the updates may not be that frequent, and worst case is your cost estimates are off… so maybe worth it.
Otherwise, any change to a default profile has to be stored in as a custom profile, in a separate physical file, since it would otherwise get overwritten on updates. There’s no simple way around this.
Note that if you only change one thing like the cost and save as a custom profile, only this new cost property will be stored in your custom profile (the JSON file), so any changes made in the future to the base profile(s) would still apply to your custom one. But it’s still a “custom” profile, cluttering up the list, indeed.

Every filament profile I use is custom, because I calibrate all of my filaments. There is always some setting that can be improved. So correcting the price is just another entry.
One of the reasons I use OrcaSlicer is that I can choose to sort User presets by type or vendor, which prevents drop-down “clogs”. I can even choose how many presets are shown without scrolling.
I also have the option to create independent presets that do not rely on inheritance, so they are not affected by updates in the parent preset. I only use System presets as starting points for calibration.
