Filament not extruding, but printer thinks everything is fine

So I’m at a standstill right now. To be honest, I have been for a while, but I just started troubleshooting this again.

I had a failed print a while back. First few layers went fine, so I went to bed. Got up in the morning and, as expected, it was still printing. But the filament had simply stopped coming out. The printer, however, was proceeding as though nothing was wrong.

Obviously I stopped the print and tried again. Once again, the printer proceeded as though nothing was wrong, but no filament was being extruded. I switched to a different spool of filament in my AMS and tried a benchy…same problem.

The printer seems to know when the filament is loaded and when it isn’t, so it doesn’t appear to be a problem with the filament sensor. The extruder gear is turning so that’s the problem. I can see the filament move through all of the PTFE tubing into the toolhead, so there’s no blockage there. Tried a different printhead…same problem.

At this point, I’m at a bit of a loss. I have no idea what to try next, or what to look at.

I’m betting it’s a clogged nozzle. Try following this guide:

It sounds like you have a nozzle clog. Maybe due to heat creep?

Personally, I always go straight for the hot hex key method (also on my H2C’s left hotend).

PS: Take care not to burn yourself. But don’t be too scared. The first nozzle clog is a rite-of-passage. :wink:
PSS: Of course, you could also try switching in a new nozzle. But usually, a nozzle clog can be resolved in a few minutes.

I thought I had tried swapping to my 0.2mm nozzle, but apparently not. Just did and it’s working now. Thanks.
