I can’t get the printer to assign the filament desired. It’s A4, But as shown, it only recognizes A1. All 4 are PLA. How do I get A4 as a choice?

Looks like A4 is PETG instead of PLA, you’re trying to print PLA. So either change A4 to PLA filament, or change the filament of your print to PETG.
I set all 4 as PLA in the left window. I don’t see where PET-G is selected?
Oh, I see. I was setting it in the Prepare window, where it sould be set in the Device wondow?
If you have a non-bambu lab spool in the AMS’ A4 slot, you likely had to manually set the type of filament that spool is, it could be as simple as changing it from PETG to PLA (as long as it is a PLA filament spool) in the printer.

This [and similar] is the definition of what the AMS thinks is in the rolls it is holding. P1S you must set via studio or that Handy phone app, other model printers can be set on the touchpad of the device itself.
When you hit print, This is where you map the two together. “Filament C in my plan is going to be fulfilled by slot 3 of the AMS, and it thinks that is white”
in this example, if I were to select the orange “a2” in the ams selection, it would use the orange roll to fulfill the print. Important to note, that the job would still use the temperature/flow etc of whatever I have defined in the slicer [ex: ELEGOO PLA+v…."] even if that roll is actually Polymaker PLA… or even if it is ABS [and likely to fail]! The machine doesnt know - you do

this is a bambu-ism, the company decided that these 2 printers literally use the same default profiles, but they didnt bother to copypaste the profiles and rename them, so now new users have to run into this cognitive dissonance every time. You are expected to use the profiles labeled X1c on the printer labeled P1s and it will be fine

This I did not know, and to a new user would be very confusing. Yikes.
