Filament setting on printer vs setting in slicer

What is the purpose of telling the mini which filament is loaded via the control panel, when surely the slicer has that information?

Which takes preference and is there potential for a conflict to affect prints, for example slicing PLA but printer locally set for PETG

For loading and unloading purposes I can understand but the selection is detailed rather than generic

The settings on printer are mostly for the loading or unloading processes. But at least while printing the settings from the slicer, which are embedded within the gcode and send to the printer, are the used ones. The material and color selection on the printer are mainly used to make it possible to match automatically the filament from the slicer with the right AMS slot.

Thanks ! pretty much as a I thought
