I’m interested to learn more about what people have experienced when trying to get a color match between rolls of filament when using AUTO REFILL. I’m using an A1 and AMS Lite and I just tried hot swapping filament rolls during a print. I’ve been printing primarily with Elegoo & Bambu filaments (plus several others) and have never tried to get the colors to match from roll to roll. In general, I’ve always ensured I had enough on whatever roll I was printing from to complete whatever I started to print. So, I’ve never really noticed whether the color matches from roll to roll. Until now. In this case I’m using Filaxix High Speed PETG in what they call White, although it’s really a light Grey (happens to be a close match to the A1/AMS Lite light Grey color). I know I only had a little less than 1/2 of what I was going to need to complete the print so the roll switch was going to happen around mid way through. I was surprised to see the second roll printed quite a bit lighter than the starting roll (definitely noticeable). In general, is this normal? If you use 2 rolls of a given filament in a specific color should you expect the colors to match when printed? Or is this somewhat of a ■■■■ shoot, sometimes it matches other times not? Interested to learn what others have experienced and with which brands.

One thing you can count on in FDM printing: no 2 spools will exactly match in color, even when buying sequential spools from the same batch. Exactly how much color variation you’ll get will vary by brand, and luck.
If you expect colors to precisely match between spools, you are in for a lot of disappointment.
