Filament stucks in extruder

I have a P1S and currently use Geeetech PLA filament. However, the problem also occurs with Sunlu PLA filament.

I have the problem that the filament gets stuck in the extruder after printing, usually with larger print jobs. A thicker piece has formed at the end of the filament that the extruder can no longer transport through the upper opening. A message then appears stating that the filament could not be removed from the extruder. I then have to open the extruder and remove the filament.

I have already reduced the temperature so that the hot end heats at the lower end of the filament’s temperature range. The problem persists.

Since the filament has thickened, I can no longer push it into the hot end to melt; it gets stuck at the lower opening of the extruder and does not reach the hot end.

Replacing the gears in the extruder did not help either.Does anyone know this problem and have a solution?

I am having the same issue. Where is your printer located? Mine is in my garage(I live in Texas) and im wondering if my issue is heat creep or is it something else. i bought my printer Sunday and tonight will be the 3rd time ive taken it apart for the same reason

You could try printing with the door cracked open. It doesn’t have to be wide open, just 5 or 6 inches. There are also some good risers that allow hot air to exit the top.

Definitely sounds like heat creep. Bambu recommends removing the top glass and opening the front door for PLA. I prop my top glass open and open the front door in the summer months because my printer is a room above the garage with no A/C. I also run a box fan to keep air moving. Some days I just don’t print in the afternoon because of the heat.

Tried that and had to take the extruder apart again(number 4) i am now trying again with the door and the top open and seeing what that does. BTW I have a turbine fan funning on second to lowest setting just to keep air moving in the garage

Has anyone used the biqu hollow extruder or the hollowed face plate to help heat dissapation

As part of the End of Print process, the printer sends the toolhead to the front left corner of the printer where it pushes in the filament cutter across the filament path and cuts the filament just above the hotend. The AMS then reels it back onto the spool.
I have an AMS so this is a guess on my part but if you don’t have an AMS I assume one has to manually pull the filament from the extruder back to the spool and the last step is to cut the filament, whereas with me the last step is for the AMS to rewind the filament back to the spool.
If you are getting a blob too big to run back up the PTFE tubing it may mean that the filament cutter is bad because the cutter is above where that blob is.

Have you edited the g-code to try and streamline the start and stop process?

That’s right, I forgot to mention that I’m running two AMS on the P1S. The P1S is now over a year old. I replaced the filament knife two months ago. The filament is cut correctly above the hot end. The lump forms above the knife. I suspect that the filament is still soft and is being deformed by the gears, and then no longer fits into the PTFE tube. If I have enough slack to pull the PTFE tube out of the extruder, I can usually pull the filament out of the extruder with a little force. Sometimes, however, the filament breaks and I have to open the extruder.
I will leave the door open for now. It is not too hot here at the moment. Approx. 28°C in the room. The P1S is free-standing in the living room. I have a LED riser, which I will replace with a LED riser with ventilation slots so that the heat can escape more easily.

ended up having to replace the nozzle as it was severely clogged(couldnt unclog it). seemed to print fine with door and top open. Going to be printing the riser set to have more ventilation.

The riser is a great solution, solved my heat creep problems AND still can plonk the AMS on top. Put some electric tape on the surface the glass will rest on, and it will stay rock solid
