Filament Track Switch blocks filament loading

I’m using the X2D with the FTS mounted as described in the Wiki and an AMS connected to each of the inserts of the FTS. About 1 out of 5 multi filament prints using both nozzles, the loading of the 2nd filament (that is supposed to route to the auxiliary nozzle) stops because the filament can’t pass thru the FTS. The AMS starts feeding the filament until it stops with some sort of a mechanical ‘clonk’ inside the FTS. Out of curiosity, I disconnected the FTS cable during the very last occurrence of this issue and voila, the filament went thru the FTS and the print continued and completed successfully.

Firmware of all attached devices is up to date, last print was initiated by public beta of Bambulab Studio (issue occurred using 6.0.1.00.51 too), I did an automatic AMS setup just before the print as well.

Hi user_2426003524 I had the very same problem with my filament track switch! What I did to make it work was to loosen the frame screws a tiny bit and keep the screws attached to the 3d printed attachment tight. I tried all of the other options like the e-coil magnets and stuff but none of it worked for me. I hope this helps!

are you guys using the horizontal mount from Bambu or some other mount (vertical etc). I’m just curious cause I’m considering a vertical mount for my installation, but I don’t want any trouble :wink:

I’m using the proposed horizontal mount for the track switch. The issue I’m describing might be unaffected by mount position, it looks to me like there is a logical issue during filament loading. The filament routing inside the track switch is wrong, the printer is trying to load filament to a path which has loaded filament already.

But the mount position or orientation may affect how easy filament can get thru the track switch. I’m still experimenting with PTFE tube routing since everything works fine, starting at the AMS up to the track switch and then the loading becomes hard and the printer complains about high resistance. But the issue is not sharply bend PTFE tubes or the 4-1 adapter, the issue is inside the track switch.

I made a custom vertical mount for mine as I have a custom wooden rack with slide out shelves for the printer and AMS units. I have one AMS and one AMS-HT connected by the FTS.

It took a while to dial in the length of the PTFE tube and angles but eventually got it working ok. I did also swap the right and left PTFE tube positions in the chain link from the rear to the control head. The white is now on top of the chain and the grey on the side.
