Fill bed with copies when printing by object

It would be nice if the “fill bed with copies” while you’re in print by object mode only put enough copies to actually fill the bed instead of filling it for “by layer” mode, so when you’re trying to print 9 copies of a vertical screw it doesn’t give you around 100 that then are unprintable with that setting.

It is inconvenient but on the other hand not really a big issue either…

Use ONE model in print by object mode - you see how much space it requires around it in the preview.
Guesstime how many would fit or simply use a fixed number.
Clone it and let it arrange…
You have a 50-50 chance that they all land on the plate…

Even if Bambu would first check how many objects/models fit on the plate, chances are they get it badly wrong.
Simply because the automated placing algorithm is far from perfect.
No automated rotation at the same time to reduce the empty space and fit one or two more objects on there.
The spacing calculations are often so far off that even just 3 objects fail while manually you can 5 on the plate…
For example, when I use the automated option to print a new batch of my trolley tokens I get just 8 of them printed.
Arranging them manually lets me print 26 in one go - go figure not all AI is almighty (yet)…

This is feature request. It doesnt really matter if its a big ussue or not, its still something that the software would benefit from.

Quite simply, even if its not good enough to cram the maximum amount on the plate at a time it would still save effort if it attempted to do it correctly instead of just placing a whole ton of copies down and flooding the user’s computer with extra things for it to think about.

It would still be a very handy feature ti have it estimate, not to mention getting it to try is the path to having it get good at it.

The software is already a huge clunking mass of patches. But as you say, a feature request is a feature request. Mine would be a place to keep my coffee warm.

Hey they already got you covered! As long as you’re not printing just put it in filament drying mode and set you coffee on the build plate

Is there anything new in this matter?
Can’t find a way to make it work automatically.
If you do a lot with TPU, really annoying.
