Filling in void within model?

Heya,
I’m trying to fill in empty spaces within a model so that I can slice with infill instead of it being hollow. The model is already airtight, and I am -very- new to Blender, so I am having a hard time finding a solution. I’d like to accomplish this within Bambu Studio, if able, but I’ll try other platforms. How can I fill this empty space within the model?
Thanks!

Have you tried ‘add a part’ (I.e. cube cylinder, etc.) sizing it to fit within the model yet occupy the space of the void?

Unfortunately, this is not an easy model to fill with any particular shape.

Unfortunately, there’s no shortcut to gaining knowledge or skill - otherwise I’d have taken that route years ago.

The issue here is that Blender exports the model as a hollow shell. There’s no native way to force Blender to output a solid body. While there are addons such as 3D Print Toolbox and Voxel Remesh tools, I’ve only had limited success with them. Blender can sometimes create a solid when voxel-remeshed properly, but results are inconsistent and often require third-party repair afterward. If you get the message in the slicer “Open Manifold” that’s what I mean.

Here are some external tools you can use. My preference is Meshmixer from Autodesk - it’s older but still free and effective. Both have a learning curve unto themselves, so again, no shortcuts to mastery I’m afraid.

  • Meshmixer – Converts shells to watertight solids via “Make Solid.”
  • Microsoft 3D Builder – Auto-repairs and fills hollow meshes. It’s what runs when you right-click Fix Model in Windows 3D Viewer. Although Microsoft removed it from the Store, its functions are still accessible within many slicers. Between the two, Meshmixer is more capable but has a steeper learning curve.
