Install looks simple enough albeit you loose the dedicated TPU port on the install video and it uses a separate power supply so not the cleanest install.
Also need to find the ‘gas bottle’ (assuming CO2 as it’ll be little use otherwise, seems to be a ‘Sodastream’ type size and connection) so about another £30 from a quick search on Amazon.

It looks like the fire extinguisher can only be activated through the laser’s menu. However, I would like to have it as a safety feature for normal 3D printing. This would be useful in case something goes wrong with the heated bed or other electronic components while I’m at work and the printer is running a multi-day print job.
I never thought that 1 guys story was legit. He even says he reentered the room to see smoke billowing out of the printer, but then his whole house burned down? Doesnt add up.
Anybody see a burned up printer in the pics? I only see an old shack with questionable wiring choices.
In the comments, someone asks where the 3d printer is. Conveniently, that was the only thing he removed. But, for insurance, thats the one thing that wouldnt be moved
I guess it depends on personal preference. I have a traditional ABC fire extinguisher next to my printers & will continue to keep that there.
I’ll be adding one of these new ones in addition - I like that it’s automatic (could have a faster reaction time than I would), it doesn’t require the device to be opened to be used (the interior of the printer is made with flame retardant material) and it’s CO2 so it should be less likely to damage the device compared to the gunk from ABC extinguishers.
CO2 extinguishers are generally pretty pricey compared to their ABC counterparts but for me It’ll be good for peace-of-mind.
