04/14/2026: Just updated one of my A1 Minis after updating the Bambu Studio software. Both updates (one on the printer, one in the software app) were via prompts. I did not go search out an update.
Now both the A1s Dynamic Flow Calibration runs like in slow motion, and the printers are both acting slow. I saw one comment say “do a factory reset”! No, I am not following the mindless Microsoft path for a fix. Both printers were running beautifully and are used daily, sometimes running over night. I make dollhouse furnishings for my wife who builds doll houses. I also print a ton of useful tools for my printers. What gives? Anyone know? Both screens on the printers say they are running at 100% but I know they are slow as I have seen them running for months now and know how that should be acting. All input welcomed! Are they bricked now??
If you are having problems the best place to start is reverting back to the previous version through handy. If everything goes back to normal then you need to decide if you want to reinstall just to see if you had installation issues, or if it is indeed a firmware issue. Then you can put in a ticket, revert back and wait for the reply.
I thought i was going crazy, but then I found your comment along with other comments online. After this last update, my A1 has gone mad, the SD card stops reading midway of a print, screen says its complete while the tool head is stuck in place, I need to eject and re enter the card in order to work. Fresh new card by the way, which yesterday worked perfectly with no issues. Today after I updated via prompt, I cant print in peace! And my A1 is well taken care of in every aspect. I will try going back to the previous version. Also, I opened a ticket in Handy, asking for information about the matter. I’m 99,9% sure its the new update because before that, i was using my printer with zero issues.
Firmware update popped up on Tuesday evening and went right ahead. Now the hotbed travels too far forward and bed levelling fails. Was working perfectly before hand. Looked at retro-installing previous firmware but the link was blank! Apparently with this latest update, it may not be possible to reinstall/reset previous firmware.
Reading about firmware upgrade issues, I went to check my circa 2-month-old P2S with AMS Pro. I was surprised to see it was running the latest firmware version, I was not asked. No apparent problems from my viewpoint.
Update 04/15/2026: Part of my support ticket reply was the following: “It is recommended that you remove any DIY accessories (I had none), update the firmware to the latest version, and follow the instructions at https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/a1-mini/troubleshooting/how-to-check-which-part-is-clogged to troubleshoot and observe whether the issue is related to extrusion abnormalities.”
After going through all that, I ran across a comment that said something like “your phone app, Maker World, and the printer have to all agree.” It was suggested to (1) stop the phone app and insure it is NOT running in the background, turn off the computer, turn off the printer, wait some time (I waited 5 minutes). Note: all (phone app, Maker World, and Printer #1) had been updated as suggested by the link. (Printer #2 is acting as my control.) Then I turned everything back on.
I checked the printer to ensure that the firmware was still the most recent. Then I sent a past simple model that I had printed before to both printers at close to the same time, and VICTORY!
I then updated printer #2 and printed the same model again, and yet again, VICTORY.
Perhaps I had a corrupt model, as I was printing a model right after the upgrade. I don’t know. I see now that 3D printing is a complicated affair even though Bambu has made it user friendly.
On April 16th, I updated my Bambu Lab A1 printers to the latest firmware version, 1.8. I don’t have any issues with the actual printing process. However, to create multi-color prints, I usually pause the print and perform manual filament changes at specific layers using the printer’s own touchscreen. The “Load” and “Unload” functions in the filament menu used to work perfectly for this. After this recent update, whenever I use this menu, the screen freezes. For example, when I tap “Load”, the screen says “Heating nozzle” and gets stuck there. The physical loading process actually completes in the background, but the UI never updates. It just stays frozen on that “Heating nozzle” step page. Additionally, I experienced a filament run-out during a print. The toolhead parked in the corner, and the “Filament run out” warning popped up. However, there are now only two options at the bottom: “Problem solved” and “Check solutions”. There used to be a “Load” button right there, but it is completely gone. What’s even more frustrating is that if I close that prompt and try to navigate to the standard Filament Load menu, the printer blocks it and gives a warning saying something along the lines of: “There is currently a problem. Please check the assistant first before you can perform this action.” Because of all this, I am now forced to use the Bambu Handy app every time just to load filament and resume my prints. Has anyone else experienced this UI freeze and missing button issue on the A1 after the 1.8 update?
I have the exact same problem, when changing colour manually. The screen freezes after the update.. It unloads in the background, but there is no way to load new filament, because of the frozen screen.
ALL of my large surface prints are now ghosting??? I have 4 Bambu lab A1,s and suddenly since the update no prints are working. I look after and maintain my printer and no changes have been made to my setup, so WHY is this happening? HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS ISSUE PLEASE HELP!

I tried using the Bambu studio to override, but the print restarted during this, before I could do the change paused it, loaded new colour manually, but had lost steps so new colour started printing in mid air. Lucky it was only a 1 hour print…..
After printing for 10 hours my Bambu A1 paused, as expected, so that I could change the filament colour (for surface text). I’ve done this successfully with earlier firmware.
But now it gets stuck after unloading filament. If I choose Retry it goes into a loop from which it can’t escape. If I tell it to continue, I can unload the filament, but then it goes on to print without filament.
“Printing” without filament suggests a fault in basic operation. Entering a loop from which you can’t escape suggests a separate fault in the user interface.
If I power off then when powered on the printer offers to continue the aborted print. But what use is that when the bed has cooled so that the object has detached from it?
Either way, I’ve wasted 10 hours of printing and of my attention to it overnight. It seems that firmware is prepared poorly, then issued with only limited testing.
At present I must add the text using a marker pen.
I used the screen on the printer to restore back to previous software prior to update. Working fine. will wait to see if a patch to 1.08 before i update again.
I wish I had an answer for everybody. I can only say what worked for me. This reminds me of the Microsoft update releases. The chaos! If I had a decent answer I would post it. I used to build networks for large companies and from that (old) experience I agree that going back to the last revision that worked for you is probably the best solution for everyone. Also, what does the new upgrade offer? If you don’t need what it offers, then don’t upgrade.
However, then you get into the cyclic nature of upgrades. For example, you don’t upgrade with #12 upgrade, and skip #13 too, then #14 comes out with security features you want, and you upgrade. Then upgrade #12, #13, and #14 will install which may end you right back at the same place.
Just FYI, Bambu just realized that it’s software is vulnerable to many security hacks as pointed out in several trade journals, so I suspect they are trying to address that with the updates.
I am being patient as I like the product and the platform, but I am NOT brand locked as there are many, many alternatives out there now and I suspect that there will be additional alternatives in the near future as 3D printing becomes more and more prevalent. Filament (I believe) doesn’t care what printer it feeds into, so if Bambu becomes idiotic, I will switch platforms in a heartbeat! But for right now, they are having growing pains I suspect.
i have the same problem, I am thinking of reverting to the previous firmware. It is such a basic feature that worked flwlessly, i have no idea what they did to mess up their own firmware. terrible and already had 4 misprints for something I did routinely.
Upgraded A1 firmware to 01.08.00.00 and latest version of Bambu Studio suddenly lost the ability to do flow calibration. Auto Calibrate button disappeared entirely. Pressing Manual Calibrate displayed an error stating calibration not supported, please update printer firmware.
Downgrading to 0.1.07.02.00 resolved the issue.
I’m completely new to 3D printing. Is this Windows-esque update BS common with Bambu Lab?
Should I always hold off a couple of months before applying firmware updates?
