This is simply an FYI. I am fairly new to 3D printing but have clocked dozens hours on my Bambu P1S.
I do a lot functional stuff so my go to material has been PETG. I decided to try some Elegoo ASA to see what would happen and how it smelled.
First, it certainly smells and the p1S filter doesn’t do much to minimize that. However, I was surprised how well it printed. The images show a black cube, 20x20mm in black which is near flawless without drying of the filament. I am very impressed with how this printed using just standard settings and the generic ASA filament profile.
After the print I got worried that the ASA would clog the print head because of the cooler temps of any PLA that went through it next. So I immediately printer some green PLA and I am glad I did. You can clearly see the black ASA on the purge line and first part of the green cube.
I think the moral of the story is, when printing ASA, move the printer to the garage. Also, after printing ASA, run some PLA through the printer to clean out the print head. Perhaps I have this wrong, but that is my experience.
Any comments or suggestions welcome.
