First Layer A1

I had a major “Blob of Death” on my A1. I replaced the heater, nozzle, part cooling fan and hotend cooling fan enclosure. I ran a print with Bambu Lab Basic PLA and see these artifacts on the first layer. The finished print looks fine. Is this an issue? Note that the artifacts are mostly perpendicular to the direction the head is moving.

Some people will say to tighten the screws of the hot end and the heater. Those waves are typically the result of the nozzle too close to the bed or over extrusion. In my experience it can be filament dependent. I have had to turn down the first layer to as much as 0.8 flow ratio. If the rest of the print looks good, I would turn on the developer mode in BambuStudio to give you access to the inital layer flow ratio setting.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tightened the hotend heater bolts, but another test print still shows that same artifacts. They appear to be in the same place as before.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve reviewed the BL Wiki on Tramming the bed. I may give that a try.

I found the solution. I didn’t have the clips holding the nozzle latched correctly. Make sure the latch engages to proper location on the clip. Once I did that, the first layer print was smooth.
