First layer problem with Bambu Smooth PEI Plate

Hi, I had no problem with the first layer test before, but I changed my build plate to Bambu Smooth PEI Plate and now when I tried to print the first layer test I ended up like this:


I cleaned up my build plate with hand soap and warm water so there is no problem such as dirty or oily build plate. I think it looks like under extruded or smth. Can you guys help me?

Thanks for posting a clear image of the first layer. This doesn’t show the usual contamination you’d see on a dirty build plate, so you have ruled that out.

Here are a few steps I’d try in order. Run a first-layer test after each one:

  1. Try a different filament to rule out a filament issue.

  2. Run the initial bed-leveling routine (the 20-minute one with the crescendo of vibrations).
    – This establishes a baseline for the build plate.
    – Also, try flipping the bed to use the other side just rule out that the plate isn’t bent.

  3. If that doesn’t help, edit the filament profile and cut the max flow rate in half.
    – For example, if PLA is set to 24 mm³/s, drop it to 12 mm³/s. This forces the slicer to slow down head movement. Later you can run a max volumetric flow calibration to confirm the right setting.

  4. If none of the above work, try two things at once:
    – Increase the first-layer height in the slicer quality settings. For example, set it to 1.5 mm so you’re laying down two layers. Experiment with different heights.
    – Since the under-extrusion is at the edges, test whether changing the first-layer speed settings makes a difference.

Other things you might try:

  • Pressure advance may be off. Try recalibrating for pressure advance. If it’s off, turn it on and if it’s on turn it off just to see if there is a difference.
