I reread the rules today and would like to clarify.
Is placing a link to Fiverr in the profile description, social media section, and footer section of the creator center a violation or are there any nuances?
I also have a link to “buy me a coffee”. Should I delete that too?
I would like to clarify how the Community Guidelines (General Guidelines – Advertising) are applied in practice.
Are external links to third-party vendors or stores allowed within model descriptions, especially when they direct users to purchase hardware kits or pre-assembled versions of a model?
Additionally, are links to donation platforms such as Ko-fi, PayPal, or Patreon permitted within model descriptions?
Based on my understanding of the Community Guidelines, such external links and redirections would not be allowed. However, I am observing multiple models on MakerWorld that appear to include similar elements.
Could you please clarify how these rules are interpreted and enforced in practice? If such content is not compliant, should these cases be reported through the standard reporting function?
For reference, I have attached examples showing this type of content.
Makerworld responded
Our moderation team will evaluate these contents case by case, based on both the model and the Community Guidelines. All content is reviewed independently under the same platform rules. If you notice content that appears to violate the guidelines, please submit it through the Report function. Our team will investigate and handle it according to the rules.
Thanks again for helping keep the community fair and safe.
Unfortunately, that’s not the clear answer I was hoping for. I’ve removed all external links from all my models. It’s not worth the risk to me. In the end, begging doesn’t get you anywhere anyway.
Yeah, it’s clear as mud. I also deleted all the links pretty quickly so there would be no surprises, especially since the effect of those links was only 3 hits per year.
