I’m struggling with my slicer software. My prints have gaps because the slicer only creates a single layer for bridges. Ideally, I want the top layers (including bridge layers) to always be more than X layers thick, but I can’t find a setting to change this? I’ve already tried the “thick bridge layer” setting without success.
It looks to me that there is nothing above your “bridge” for the slicer to draw. so this isn’t really a bridge - this is more a tupperware container sort of speak which is why it only did 1 pass over the top.
Question on the model. is it hollow? infill? IF the infill is set properly it shouldn’t need to bridge this section it’s a bit weird. Also that sparse setting is too high IMO mine never changes and I have it at 15 (not 150)
you are probably looking for this option but I doubt it will help on this model
What might be best is some trickery in the slicer, make a cube put it under those two spots inside this model hiding and make the top kiss the surface to align, then make those 2 cubes solid infill, so it overlaps and creates a bottom for the top if you get my drift rather than open air. Then it won’t need to bridge as there is something underneath it - it will top surface it like the rest of the model.
I’ve put it to 150 because otherwise there will be even more gaps (see image below), putting it to 150 resulted in more ‘bridges’ to fill the holes between the infill ‘openings’.
The model is not hollow, so I used normal infill methods (also tried different patterns). So I also don’t understand why there isn’t a layer created.
I wiped your settings and tried from scratch to see and even when being abusive with the toplayer and ironing on, it still is missing or putting a gap between certain parts on the infill and the topcoat. It’s quite evident with the crosshatch.
Which, obviously is not supposed to happen so no you aren’t going nuts.

I put a mars crater model and used same settings on a 2nd plate and it works perfectly.
naa sadly, I enabled top to bottom everything and side by side the mars is perfect and the original one he linked is ruined. My corcelain model is destroying…ruining sob…by gpu right now repairing the zillion vertisesesesesessssseses
Soon as it’s done i’ll attempt a fix on this one. maybe just making it solid then re-exporting will work if someone wants to give it a go
Since I created the model using Python, it had a very high vertex count. I imported it into Blender, went into edit mode, selected all vertices, and then used X → Limited Dissolve.
While the model now looks even messier in Blender, it actually prints much better with proper top surfaces. You can see the comparison in the attached image.
