Flood of bad models

I feel that the flood of extremely many inferior models or models with rendered images is damaging the entire Makerworld. Truly innovative models go under while most users are deceived by colorful rendered or repeatedly stolen designs.

It is no longer fun to search for models because there is so much garbage.

Why is nobody doing anything about it?

We here in the forum (at least many of us) do, we constantly report them and seek more control over what can and can’t be allowed.

Recently, a new rule started that the main image (first one) MUST be a real photograph and not a render or screenshot.

We pushed for that.

If you feel someone is breaking the rules in any way, use the report option in the “more menu” (three dots) and provide the reason and description for the report.

Do your part and help metaphorically pick up the litter.

Bambu Lab (via MakerWorld) has little incentive to do housekeeping as they have the dumb belief (born out by their lack of action) that more is better, rather than quality is better.

Reports push them to act where they would usually do nothing.

This is how the internet/life is in general if you take a step back and look.

We are getting flooded with stupid things, because the majority of people like shiny, stupid things.

Wait I thought it’s just “strongly recommended” - but I may have missed a notice…

It was in the last update.

That doesn’t sound like a “must”… Regardless, I hope the rule doesn’t apply retroactively because I have a bunch of first pics being renders! (But my renders definitely look worse than real print pics taken in good lighting and are not misleadingly good so I’m probably safe)

On the topic of flooding - holy â– â– â– â–  I tried to look for a curtain clip and all I got were pages and pages of filament clips (and bag clips, but mostly crappy filament clips), it was a nightmare.

The search seems to lack, imo. So, not sure if getting poor search results is really about having a lot of “bad” models, and more about having a lackluster search algorithm. Someone else may think a curtain clip is noise.

It’s not only that, the main problem with search is all the tags people add so the items pop-up in unrelated searches.
Let’s say you search for Superman and you get Batman in the first two results.
Then Deadpool and other Marvel figures etc.

Same problem with many categories where people abuse the tags and text fields to get hits on searches.
I do understand that Batman is related to Superman (DC) but that is not what I searched for.

yeah, I think they should limit the tag to something around 5, right now it just really hard to find anything related
